Happy Easter 2026! So blessed to be up and around making memories with my family! I spent a Easter Sunday week in-patient so you can imagine how fortunate I feel to have such a great medical team helping me achieve as much health as I can grind out. 9 yrs 3 mos post-op from bilateral lung transplant.
Our Granddaughter Lola Grace served up a storm in her league Championship game for the Win!

So I pickled up a bag of Chomps from Costco one day. I thought, “I wonder how those would taste if I pickled them?”
So I did!
Overly blessed to attend Mass on our 46th wedding anniversary and once again join Father Pete who married us on that wonderful October 6th in 1979!
My PFT’s have tanked going on 4 months now. After my first month of Photopheresis treatments it is still too early to detect stabilization or improvement in my lung health. All that said it was time for another Bronchoscopy today. All went well and I feel so much better having my lungs brushed, washed and suctioned out. Biopsies were taken and we’ll have to see what the cultures reveal for treatment. Very likely the Acroma Bactor has reared its ugly head again. I was able to return home on the same day after really feeling like I was going to be admitted again. How good was that hot caramel macchiato with soy from Starbucks in recovery?

We had an awesome Birthday weekend in McKinney celebrating our eldest son Mark Jr’s lap around the sun. Our hearts are full.
Still on the mend but so very blessed to be home to celebrate Miranda and Matt’s birthday dinner and celebration. Family is everything and that is for sure!
Well here I am, in-patient again going on day 5. This pesky antibiotic resistant lung infection continues to require IV antibiotic therapy. Not sure what the long term impact may be but it may be yet another layer in my ongoing health maintenance routines to add to the rigor of what being a lung transplant patient involves.
Super uplifting today was a well-check visit from one of my OG Pulmonary Transplant Institute Physicians Dr Levine. So blessed to have such a high caliber medical team on top of helping me achieve the best health possible for me.
When the objective is outpacing a resistant infection? REHAB!!

Celebrating my 8th Lung Anniversary with my family at home. Still fighting a pesky bacterial infection in my lungs but delivering a stronger will to overcome and defeat this latest bugaboo.
I remain committed to strive for the best health I am able to achieve one day at a time good Lord willing.
Just a matter of hours away from my 8th Lungaversary. This year, like the previous 7 years has not been without its health pitfalls. All of which are par for the course of a Bilateral Lung Transplant survivor. Covid 19 got me twice this year as well as a lung infection in between the two bouts of Covid. As I type this farewell to 2024 I am in-patient at University Hospital under treatment for Bacterial Pneumonia. The amazing news is I have just been discharged to go home and continue my treatment with oral antibiotics. I am ready to head home and be with my loving family for the new year!
Goodbye 2024!
