INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 1994 ● dir. Neil Jordan
“Be mindful of how you handle your energy. Similar to money, it can either be spent, or it can be saved. It can be given, or it can be collected. This energy is a precious gift, truly. So be cautious, and handle yours wisely.”
— Nicole Addison @thepowerwithin

.・゜-: ✧ :-Energy in Witchcraft-: ✧ :-゜・.
We’ve all heard the term “energy” thrown around in witchcraft. “focus your energy on this,” “do this to protect your energy,” “match your energy to your desires,” etc. But what does “energy” mean?
Now when we say “energy” in terms of magick or spirituality, we’re not talking about science or electricity, or how tired we feel. Throw those preconceived notions out before you get confused.
In essence, energy is the life in all things that cannot be measured.
Everything has energy. You, me, the elements, the planets, the whole universe. You can become aware of this energy and control it if you practice. Here are some exercises to help you become aware of and control your energy!
Practice 1: Feeling your energy
Raise your hands in front of your chest and hold your palms facing towards each other. Don’t touch your hands together. Take a few deep breaths and relax. Can you feel the energy in between your hands? It make feel like heat, coolness, or tingling.
Practice 2: Grounding: Attracting the Earth’s Energy
Stand barefoot on the ground. It’s best to do this outside, but if you can only do it inside that’s just fine. Focus on your feet touching the ground. Feel the energy of the earth moving up your feet all the way up to your head. After this, start at your head and move your energy down through your feet into the Earth. Feel the exchanging of energy for a bit.
Practice 3: Growing roots
Feel your energy moving into the Earth like roots from a tree. Stretch your roots as far into the Earth as you can. Then, feel the energy moving up those roots and into your feet. Feel it move through your legs, through your arms, up to your head. Extend that energy out of the top of your head like tree branches reaching into the sky.
Practice 4: Filling your energy with the Sun or Moon
Stand out where the sun or moonlight can touch your skin. Imagine the beams of light like energy and channel it through the top of your head all through your body. After it has circulated through your body, push it into the earth through your feet.
Energy is essential to all things spiritual and magickal. Learning how to work with it is essential.

Antitheists really think theyre smart being like "your religion isnt real actually:) " to Natives thinking its fine and totally not racist like Christians have been telling us our religions arent real for centuries you aint special
Antitheists & Atheists who go around telling poc their ethnic religions aren't real & that we're foolish for believing in them are the exact same as Christians who told us that & used it as an excuse to colonize us
Honestly, even if you dont necessarily believe in spirituality or anything at all, there is still power in traditional spirituality. In traditional Cree teachings, when you dance, pray, and make decisions, you do it with the next 7 generations in mind. When our ancestors danced and prayed they did it with all of us in mind, with love in their hearts for those who would come next, and even if you don't believe those prayers have any real world effects, knowing that seven generations of your ancestors sang and danced with you in their hearts? Real, undoubtedly real. That care for our descendants extended beyond prayer too, the treaties were specifically intended by our ancestors to never expire, and thats intentional. Our leaders made their decisions with the next 7 generations in mind. Whether or not you believe in spirituality or our traditional teachings, they are powerful.
Flipping everyone the same finger regardless of race is rude and dickish, but not racist. If an unpleasant person wakes up one day and selects a person based on something other than race and decides to mistreat them, it’s okay to be mad at the unpleasant person, or even hate them in some contexts, but it’s unfair to call them racist when they happen by chance to choose a victim who is of a marginalized race. Similarly, it would be stupid to call someone racially progressive for pointlessly abusing someone from a privileged race.
I believe in sensitive and kind men. I believe in the mystical men who believe in themselves. I believe in men who seek temperance and peace inside them. I believe in men poets, dreamers, magicians, writers, alchemists, artists, teachers, and angels. I believe in men who like to dance and sing and make life a celebration. I believe in men who embrace their wounded inner child, listen to him and embrace him true. I believe in men who want to heal and help others to heal. I believe in men who refuse to be slaves to their own wound and that despite the pain, they clean it and heal it patiently, with love and courage. I believe in men who come from the stars and remember the power of their wings, the power of their hands and the power of their heart. I believe in men who know of intuition and use it as their compass. I believe in men who share freedom because they are free and do not know another way to live. I believe in the men protective of women’s energy, who know how to read the look of their beloved and who do not intend to change it, simply accompany it wisely on their flight. I believe in full men who don’t need anything from outside because they already know that everything has it inside. I believe in men who make fire when they are cold, that take refuge in water when they are thirsty. I believe in men with truthful eyes they see themselves and that’s why they love and respect every creature exists on earth. I believe in men, perfectly imperfect, because it is in that imperfection is where they also find their beauty. I believe in sensitive men who know how to receive and give love in balance, who listen and who also speak, those who live and let them live. I believe in men who live sexuality as sacred, because they know that it is a wonderful gift. I believe in men with clear feelings, which are accessible. I believe in men who walk barefoot and speak to the plants. I believe in the tender and wild men at the same time. I believe in the sacred male and in all the divinity they have stood. Cast Iron Care
I grew up in what I call a cast iron family. All the pans were cast iron, we had a few enamel pots for pasta, and one beat up copper bottomed pan for boxed mac and cheese. My mom cooked most days and when she didn’t, it was mac and cheese or pasta because we weren’t allowed to cook with her pans unless she was there.
Cast iron has some mixed reviews, some (me), swear by it and some, think it’s difficult and impossible to cook with…and they’re right to a degree (get it, degree, cooking, farenheit, celcius…sorry), if you don’t know how to care for cast iron, it’s a hassle and a mess. That’s what this post is for though!
Seasoning
Seasoning is the term used to treat and clean cast iron. Even when you buy a new “pre-seasoned” pan, you’re going to want to season it yourself. A major benefit of cooking with cast iron is that it retains flavor, and makes its own seasoning for your food…like magic!
Step 1: Clean your pan with HOT water and a scouring brush, rough side of a sponge, or steel wool. Nothing else…just water and something rough.
Step 2: Dry it completely with paper towels, and then place it on a lit stovetop burner for a minute or so to make sure it’s completely dry.
Step 3: While the pan is warm, probably 10-20 minutes after you remove from stove, (because it retains heat like no one’s business, and I don’t want you to burn yourself) pour some oil* into the pan and spread it around, completely coating the inside. Wipe off excess.
Step 4: Place in the oven set to 200º F, Upside Down for 2 hours
BOOM! Your pan is seasoned and ready to cook with.
*But Barber, what kind of oil? That’s mostly up to you, but canola is the classic standard (vegetable oil) but I use olive oil or canola, depending on what I used last. You can use any vegetable oil you want, whether that’s grapeseed, sunflower or flax seed, but there’s no reason to go crazy and buy a “Cast Iron Care Oil” because that’s literally just a marked up bottle of canola…No Lies.
NEVER USE SOAP WHEN CLEANING YOUR CAST IRON,and here’s why…**
Soap is great for clothes, and your body, and even your car, but not for Cast Iron. Cast iron is a porous metal, so when you put something in, it absorbs. When you cook with it regularly, and oil it regularly, it creates its own nonstick surface! It’ll absorb the taste of herbs and spices you cook with regularly, and everything gets a mild flavor boost from whatever you cooked in it previously. When you use soap, it removes that surface and flavor; soap can absorb and flavor your food, and no one wants soapy fritatas.
Now, the seasoning steps above are used when you get a new pan, or need to re-season a rusted pan. It’ll restore it like new. But what about cleaning after cooking something tastey?
Cleaning and Upkeep
Step 1: While the pan is still warm, take rock salt and/or a non-metal brush (like the one above that I use) and go crazy scrubbing it.***
Step 2: Rinse with warm water, and dry with a paper towel (I say paper towel, because it’ll actually raise up some iron, and turn your towel black…better use a disposable towel, or risk staining your nice linens) after that, feel free to put on the stove top for a minute to make sure it’s all dry
Step 3: Coat with a little oil, wipe up excess, and store in your oven or broiler.
Special notes: The heat, salt you use to scrub, and iron itself all equal one great big anti-bacterial surface, so no worries about not using soap and feeling like you’ll get salmonella. Because it’s a porous surface, air drying is a no-no. It’ll lead to rust, and then you’ll have to scrub it off and completely re-season it (refer to first seasoning process).
**The soap thing. You can use soap. I never do. Most soaps these days aren’t as damaging and stripping as the old ones. Again, you can use soap, but I never will because like I said, that’s how i grew up, my tradition, this is a part of my witchcraft practice, and it works for me. Updated 10/27/18 p.s. idk about y’all, but I use dish soap to get rid of oil, so while tons of people message me about using soap on it, I still am not going to break tradition of not using soap on a pan older than me. 11/27/18
***When you scrub with salt, it starts picking up iron particles and oil. It’ll start turning black and you can keep it in a jar until you’ve got a good amount, bake it on a sheet to dry it, and there you have classic Black Salt! For more banishing oomph, I scald pepper in a fry pan, and add incense ash to the mix.
