“I’ll just have to scare them all off with my lightsaber.”

“So tell me, how long have you known Senator Clovis?”

“Padmé, I am so sorry, I promise it will never happen again.” Anakin said, he hadn’t meant to lose control, but when he had seen Clovis leaning into kiss his wife, and Padmé clearly in trouble he couldn’t help himself.

“I just- Clovis is a snake, and he tried to kiss you! I’m sorry.”

　　　　Padme smiled up at him, brown eyes glittering with happiness just having him there. Her arms were wrapped around his neck with her fingers lightly playing with his hair. Hardly needing any prompting, Padme rocked forward onto the tips of her toes to reach him. She could barely kiss him for all her smiling, but once her lips touched his, she melted into him, focused exclusively of the feel of him against her.

“Hm. My angel.” Anakin murmured against her smiling mouth letting her kiss him and melt into him, Padmé was his heart, of that he was certain. Because when he was away, it felt like there was a hole where his heart should be, he was only whole when he was with her.

Hearing his voice first, Padme turned around and gasped at the familiar figure. “Anakin!” She gasped, hurrying over and throwing her arms around him. “My love,” she whispered, nestled in his soft golden hair. “I had not thought you would be back until next week!” But far from complaining, she turned and placed a tender kiss on his lips. “I have missed you so.”

A little smirk rolled through her chest and her cheeks turned a soft shade of pink. “And here I thought you had worked up enough of an appetite?” she teased, though the look on her face made it perfectly clear that she was open to his ‘ideas’.

"Can dinner wait a little bit?" Anakin smiled kissing her neck, he wanted to take her to the bedroom and kiss her breathless. His angel, was it wrong to want to worship her like the goddess Padmé so clearly was?

"Or will I have to carry you to the bedroom myself?"

Moments like these were so rare, with the war going on. Padme slowly set the knife down and reached her arm up to wrap around her husband. Now with him close once again, she allowed herself to feel the full ache of his absence - being without him for so long made her ache.

“I love you,” she repeated, turning to touch her cheek to his. “...I have missed you so much, at times I thought my heart might rend in two.”

With the knife set aside, Anakin took the opportunity to wrap Padmé up in his arms and gold her as close as he dared.

"Why don't you show me, just how much you missed me?" He said, with a wicked smile.

Padme gasped in mock indignation at her husband’s sensual suggestion. “Excuse you, Sir. I am cooking you a dinner. Surely *that* is show enough!” She grinned. “Do you know what sort of effort goes into making a stew?”

Laughing at her, Anakin bent down and pressed a kiss to the side of Padmé's neck. Force, he loved this woman, how had he gotten so lucky as to have her?

"Then let me show you, how much I missed you."

Padme smiled at Anakin’s laughter - it sounded wonderful to hear him laugh. To know she made him happy when life did its best to bring him down. Her arms slowly slid around his waist and she nestled against his touch. 

“Does this mean you’re going to clean the dishes?” Padme asked, knowing how she teased.

"Hm. I can think of another way to show you how much I missed you, Angel." Anakin said giving Padmé a squeeze, as hungry as he was, dinner could wait.
