⡠@heukjangmiâ âˇ
Despite the long stay in Port City, Isabella still hadnât explored it to its full extent ⌠much less acquaint herself with the people residing inside it. Whether an ability-user or not, she had always found people a little interesting. Or rather, she found something about them that she just latched onto until she found something else to grasp.
For one particular individual in question, Isabella had seen them around before and one thing always stood out from said person; that being the aura they carried around themselves. Though at a distance, it was hard to tell. Now that she was face to face with them, it was ⌠rather intimidating. His regal appearance lend itself a bit of authority, maybe respect. She was unsure if she should bow or address him even more politely than others. Well, maybe sheâll just go with her usual cheery self instead. Yeah.
âHello !! I love your style. It looks really good on you.â
Neela was having a bit of a good day. His skin was clear, his hair was perfectly tousled just the way he liked it, and his eyeliner was on point. This was his day, and nothing was going to stop it. The only thing that would make it better if someone donates money to him. Or a compliment. Either were golden.
You know what ? Heâs going to treat himself to a nice cup of tea. He had the money, and he had the time. It was his lunch break, after all !
Neela basically hummed (very loudly) his way to the tea shop he frequents, not minding the stares. Who cares ? This was his day ! He was shining ! And he was having fun !Â
As he was pulling his wallet out from his jean pocket he heard something very very kind about his clothing. Neela gasped, turning around and clutching his chest. The prophecy has come true ! Someone complimented him !
âThank you so kindly ! But Iâm going to have to say, I, like, love your hair !â Neela enthused back before having an impulse of generosity. âWould you like a drink? From one cute person to another ?â
lilianzwingli:
âMy- my fashion sense?â She tilted her head, not sure what he meant. She quietly mumbled, âI-I mean theyâre all hand-me-downs from my brotherâŚâ she gestured at her clothes, still confused.
âOh!â She exclaimed as his anger died down, âBut if it would make you happy, I could even buy you more than one.â She quietly added, âI like Burts Bees tooâŚâ hoping to find something in common with the stranger who was suddenly getting upset over something as simple as chapstick.
âThe whole worn-down vintage look ? Thatâs, like, totally in style right now. Vintage stores are popping up all over because of how popular its getting, donât you know ?â Neela spoke in a matter-of-fact sort of tone, slipping his dead chapstick into his sweater pocket (thank God it had pockets).Â
At the mention of the possibility of not getting just one Burtâs Beeâs chapstick, the possibility of more than one ? Neela gasped to himself, raising his hands and clapping them together.Â
âThatâs great ! Burtâs Bees is, I donât know, only one of the best moisturizer companies out there ? Like, I have super dry skin but it softens it up so well that you just canât tell !â Neela was immediately very friendly at the aspect of getting more than one chapstick, already bouncing on the balls of his heels and antsy to get his hands on some aisles in a pharmacy or makeup store. He had been eyeing that ârefreshingâ version of the chapstick.
lilianzwingli:
âoh, um, I didnât mean to-âÂ
Lili could feel the despair wafting off of Neela and it caused her to gasp. She hadnât actually done anything to warrant an excuse, she hadnât knocked the chapstick onto the ground, but it seemed to be a reflex at this point.Â
âWould⌠you like me to buy you another? Thereâs a convenience store down the streetâŚâ
Neela held up the chapstick to his chest, knowing fully well that this was much too melodramatic to be professional, but this was his Burtâs Bees Chapstick, his pride and joy and what he would recommend to his Instagram fans when asked how to repair their lips. He fought to urge to glare at the perpetrator, instead capping the chap stick and running over how much it would cost to get another one.
Not a lot. But honestly. This particular stick had felt special.
âYou canât replace something as special as the one. Its just not done. Against the rules. Unholy.â Neela spoke brokenly, cradling the chapstick and slowly standing back up, looking down at the gravel now specking his black leggings in distaste. He brushed it away, pulling down his sweater over his thighs once more before looking up at the murderer of good chapstick.
Oh. It was a rather well-dressed lady. Well. That made the anger die down quick. âOkay. Maybe you can fix this by buying me another, but only because I like your fashion sense.â
hikiiko:
@heukjangmi liked for a starter !Â
Kiku stood in front of the huge shelves, pondering his existence. Despite the very visible alphabet signs on each damned row- someone had completely jumbled it up. The Iâs were right next to the Tâs and the Yâs were on the ground somehow. All of it was giving him a headache, even though heâd gotten at least seven hours of sleep the previous night.
Like the broken man he was, Kiku began to salvage the mess, pick up the pieces. It would take most of the day, at least one and a half hours. But heâd finished his weekly assignments. Small sacrifices.Â
Neela didnât often go to the library, since you could look up information on the internet and stuff. But, just this once, he decided to go to the boring place because, sadly, his favorite manga site had removed the final chapter of this manga for some âlicensingâ reason and this library had the final volume. So. Small sacrifices.
At least he was thankfully entertained by watching a broken man pick up books from one of the jumbled shelves on the second floor. Neela snickered to himself. Internally, of course.
âWant help ?â Neela secretly hoped for the guy to say no, but habit had him asking anyways because that fakeness was what got you through society in a Korean community.
bingjyufo:
He didnât expect to get this far, honestly. Like most everything else in his life, he did this on an impulse, without an actual game plan. Oops. Time to improvise, good thing heâs always been good at that.
âSorry,â Leon said, still smiling. âBut I was just wondering⌠Are you from Tennessee? Because youâre the only ten I see.â He punctuates that sentence with a wink and fucking finger guns, because yolo.
Neelaâs brows raised with that line. Really ? That was the most creative he could get ? Well, power to him for actually approaching him, something about the whole... aforementioned emo charm told him enough that this wasnât, like, normal behavior for this guy.Â
Instead, Neela returned the smile, reaching up to tuck a lock of hair behind his ear. If someone was flirting with you, always seize the chance (and the guy was still cute, Neela will admit). âThanks for the compliment. For you on a scale of one to ten, youâre maybe about a nine... and Iâm the one you need.â
He then also winked and clicked his tongue with finger guns. That should do it.
@lilianzwingli liked for a starter
Okay, so if you called Neela a cry-baby heâd probably deny it, but anyone would cry when your very very effective Burtâs Bees chap stick falls on the ground and collects not only dust, but gravel (because someone forgot to sweep the floor the other day, that wasnât Neelaâs duty--) and just being gross in general and his lips were feeling really dry for some reason today of all days and someone had bumped into him and--
Today was just not a good day.
âThat was, like, the best chap stick Iâve had in years...â Neela moaned, kneeling and grieving over his lost warrior, one who fought off the winter cold.
âHow could you !?â
yall are choosing the wrong ppl to call daddy tbh.
yacjing:
Gotcha! I think itâs always fun to be with people on your birthday! Like my brother doesnât really like making a huge deal over our birthday so we donât have huge parties but we do invite friends over to play games and eat food!
[ like during her bday. she did play gaia with cha-dol for a bit ]Â
Oh good!! I still got more things that will match with it, okay? Iâm great at finding whole outfits together!
Definitely ! And I totally feel that, my mom and dad often made too big of a fuss for my birthdays, inviting relatives I donât know and all that. Like, I met a new cousin at every one of those parties ! Every single one !
But anyways, likewise ! I like to think Iâm a bit stylish, so if you want help in some outfit hunting... Iâm your guy.
ladypurple-ada:
[she nods in acknowledgement of his comment, but decides to drop the subject for now, she doesnât quite know how much more she can convince him to not worry and that sheâs âfineâ]
Oh, donât worry about buying me anything, I can pay for myself. [she steps through the door, smiling as thanks] Thank you, um⌠Oh, I donât remember if you have told me your name.
[ here he kind of awkwardly laughs ] Oh, the nameâs Neela, but you can call me Ao, I like it better. And donât worry, Iâm just a glorified coffee delivery boy around here since not much is going on. Hooray internships, right ? [ not that he minds, he can goof off a lot more if he doesnât have that much to do-- ]
[ he steps out the door, letting it shut behind him as he heads down the hallway towards the stairs to the exit ] So are you an ability user around here, too ? I mean, looks like youâre handling some pretty important stuff.
opadhyay:
Honestly? Same.
âWell, thatâs just a friendship. Nice! Always worried that this generation, the kids donât know how to make fulfilling friendships, but thatâs all nonsense, right? Friends are just a part of life!â Damn, whatâd gotten into him this morning- the preaching was always reserved for the evenings!Â
Ravi could have guessed that the man before him was- rather clearly American, in some shape or form, but had some silent gratitude for the fact that he wasnât- entirely American. Heavens knew that girl in the Guild was already making a name for herself.Â
âWell, then,â sighed Ravi, coming to more important matters- like himself. âYouâre lucky. Just- multiple layers arenât good for my physique! I can barely move- and whatâs a chap like me to do if he can barely move. Makes me feel old.â And sure, just because he was striving to be a paternal figure- didnât mean he was one.Â
Old ? This guy didnât look a day past, like, twenty-five or something ! Maybe this was some kind of attempt at humor. Neela had to disagree though, he, like, seriously didnât look all that old, but he smiled all the same.Â
âI think your physique would look fine with whatever youâre wearing. I mean, clothes shouldnât really make the person, right ?â Big person words that Neela didnât entirely believe in, but he thinks this guy could probably wear anything and look like a rich man in it so. You know. The world makes exceptions.
âAnyways, can I ask how you met Mr. Sanun ? You donât have to answer or anything, Iâm just curious.â
bingjyufo:
Hey, wait. Wait. Isnât that the âtwink ass hoeâ coworker Sheng kept ranting about? Sheng told him to kick his ass⌠but thatâs too much effort. Still, he canât pass up a chance to mess with his broâs mortal enemy. Trying to weird out the guy without making him straight-up run off could be fun, wasnât like Leon needed to keep a good reputation.
Strolling up to him, in the middle of a fairly busy street, Leon flashed his best ~charming smile~ (hey, it worked on Mei, right?) and asked, âYou come here often?â
When strange guys that he doesnât know approach him, Neelaâs first reaction is often to give a straight right hook into their side. But, heâs a changed boy, and his situation requires him to be kind to civilians near the Agency, so instead of jumping on his first instinct to punch the creepy guy, instead he actually turned around and put on a friendly smile, setting the tray of coffees he was carrying onto a nearby table.
Only to come face-to-face to someone who one could consider attractive (in that weird emo kinda way, like the whole attraction people had to like the Onceler or something) smiling charmingly at him. Well. Thatâs disarming.
âUhm, considering I work here, yes.â Neela replied, only slightly put off by the sudden situation.
eh-dgy:
It would have been a trap if he had said it was near his apartment!
âAh, I usually get chamomile tea, but lately Iâve had a craving for coffee. But, the hot chocolate in this cafe is one of the bests so I usually get that with them.â No one asked! But it was an attempt to fill the time with his musings.
âMmm. No thanks, I have to save up for Christmas gifts and canât afford to get anything new. And Iâm rather content with what I have in my closet.â Strangers commenting on Matthewâs wardrobe? In Port City? Itâs more likely than you think. âHowever, Iâm happy to stop by some places if youâre looking for yourself.â
Trying to let down Neela rather gently, he could afford to get some new clothes, but had a sneaking suspicion that the places they would be going to would be far out of his price range. Saying a silent prayer that this would appease the sassy child.
âOh chamomile, love that tea. Green tea is definitely the way I lean, but sometimes I can sneak in some black tea. Coffee is too bitter....â Neela trailed off at the mention of money = clothes.
Wow. Believing that a good wardrobe came with surplus money, a belief of those who do not know the true ways of fashion.Â
Pity.
âWell, thatâs fine. I totally am recommending you mix up what youâre wearing, though. That color does not flatter your eyes, trust me. Your eyes are very pretty, by the way, shame that theyâre being wasted like this !â
Neela spoke a word blabber, choosing to opt his mind into looking down at his hands and checking the condition of the skin. Oh, he needed more hand lotion, thatâs right. He supposed he could do that wherever they were going as well. But he should answer Matthew, that would be appropriate.
âAnyways, yep, just looking for myself will do, I guess.â Neela drew his hands back into his sweater sleeves, waiting around for a moment before saying with a little snark, âI donât know the way. Feel free to lead on.âÂ
ladypurple-ada:
Donât worry about me, Iâm fine. The only thing I will be âpassing outâ is solved cases to Sanun-sama!Â
Oh, sure! I am a little hungry. [if by âa little hungryâ you mean âhavenât eaten since breakfast and worked through lunchâ then sure, Mizuki] I donât remember if weâve ever met officially, but if we havenât, Iâm Mizuki, or Mimi for short. But if we have, then, at least you will remember my name, right? [she laughs somewhat uncomfortably] [My memory has been worse recently, she thinks to herself]
[ he attempts not to cringe at that pun but he just barely hides it ] I mean, sure, but you can still take a break every once in a while in between. You do worse tired, its just a bodily fact.
[ with that he opens the door and steps back ] Then ladies first. Just a warning, Iâd totally offer to buy for you but Iâm a broke high school student living on an allowance.
ladypurple-ada:
[she realises her mistake and tries to backtrack] W-What I meant was, um, failure to, um⌠get the perfect gifts for my co-workers, yes, thatâs it! The last time I got gifts for my co-workers, when I got back from Japan, it didnât go so well, so this time I want to get it perfect for Christmas!
[she laughs, hoping to get him off the topic quickly, and show that she is definitely fine, absolutely, 100% okay, and she types something quickly before standing up] I guess I can stop for the day, I can always come in early, and I still need to study, I have exams for my university studies very soon, and I canât wait to get full marks!
[she actually doubts sheâll get full marks, but surely an extra hour of study to make up for the overtime work canât hurt, right? Just then, her stomach growls] Hehehe, oopsâŚ
[ (???) heâs very confused at this point to what she could be hiding, he had a legit point but not enough to the point she had to hide anything, like, he was just pointing out that she might be over-exaggerating things, or something like that... Baeoo had the habit of doing that so... also, he could get brownie points for helping out a coworker like this ]
Uh, okay ? Good luck with that, and get some rest or something. My phone is low on battery, so if you pass out from hunger or something like that I probably canât respond immediately, or something. [ raises a brow and moves to leave when he hears the growl ]
[ glances at her as he ponders... he had meant to stop by a convenience store to buy that American ramen or something like that, but he hated walking around at night alone since heâs a very cute young boy and who looks very frail and he could get mugged or something... even though he could probably defend it off but just-in-case-- ] ...Want to come with me to eat something ? Its just to the nearby convenience store.
ladypurple-ada:
[she doesnât show it, but the âitâs a little ugly, to be honestâ remark takes another chip out of her increasingly fragile self-worth] I will, soon. Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year, people say.
[she massages her head as she tries her best to ignore an incoming headache] Mmmmh, I should get this done though, the sooner we get these cases solved, the better for the Agency. [she mutters to herself, not expecting it to be audible] I canât afford to have another failureâŚ
Another failure ? [ he makes a show of looking around the agency... nothing seems off, and the building hasnât exploded or anything... so what was such a failure? ]Â
[ oh, unless this was one of those try-hard types that didnât care about themselves at all... neela personally disliked those types since he believed in a little selfishness every once in a while, but he hid his disdain ]Â
I mean, the building isnât on fire, and, like, no one in the agency that I know of is dead, so I mean... I donât see a problem in taking a break or something. And getting eyedrops, your eyes are red as firetrucks.
