Someone else is interacting with the subject and I believe they are attempting to scam him out of money or exploit him in some way.

Background: the subject was once allegedly scammed out of $12,000 to a similar method that this new potential perpetrator is employing.

I know I mustn’t interact, but I cannot allow something like this to happen again even if the subject is not an upstanding character. He is not of sound mind and is easily manipulated by his obsession. I have messaged the perpetrator and if he admits to his actions and does not cease I am going to take drastic measures and report this to authorities.
