TIMELINE CLEANSE:
context (via @mellorocket)
doubly funny that I saw a compilation of all the corporate accounts like "aw thanks elmo, we're doing well" meanwhile all the flesh and blood real human people are extremely not okay
Okay but Elmo had actually the best and sweetest response to all this trauma dumping:
And then all the other Sesame Street character accounts joined in:
And now I’m thinking maybe we’re gonna be okay… 💗
(Comment compilation from this Twitter)
I kinda feel for the poor person running Elmo's Twitter.
"So, boss... I may have messed up."
"What did you do, Ray?"
"Well, I made a post for Elmo saying 'Hi, how's everybody doing?'"
"I mean, that's kind of what we pay you for."
"Yeah, but.... <sigh> it turns out pretty much everyone is hanging on by a thread, badly enough that they needed to tell Elmo."
"Oh."
"God help me, boss, I think Elmo needs to be there for them."
"Get the others."
this is the energy that jim henson would be proud of.
and important addition

Project 2025 outright calls on conservatives to fund and manufacture more “studies” on the “negative” effects of trans-affirming care.
guess we need to be circulating this psa again. This Is A Fucking Trap. Do Not Participate.
this may be a controversial take but if i could go back in time to give high school me in the u.s. one piece of advice it would have been to just fucking drop out and get my GED. i considered it but everyone acted like that would've been the end of the world even though i was literally failing all of my classes and living in daily suicidal misery anyway. i was immunodeficient and so sick & missing weeks of classes at a time and terribly bullied.
high school was literally exclusively horrible for me; there is no advantage i've gained whatsoever from having barely completed it alive. i ended up going to a technical college years later which would have accepted a GED; grades didn't matter. i would've ended up exactly where i am now, a biologist earning my master's degree. i look back at HS and i'm like ok, there was literally NO reason for me to endure all that LOL!!!!!!!
obviously it's not the right choice for everyone but if you genuinely don't know if you're going to survive high school, quitting actually is an option. look into GED programs in your area. (i also have several younger friends who were lucky enough to have access to online homeschool options after i graduated, so if your issues are related to bullying, disability, etc. you can consider that too if it's feasible)
you're surrounded by people every day who did not complete high school, and you may or may not know it.
if you need permission to stop going through hell every day and find a different path, this is me giving it to you. contrary to pop culture, school actually ISN'T supposed to be a battle for survival every day!
The Germans really cooked making "Hobbyless behaviour" an insult. It is both devastating, applicable to a wide range of people and behaviours, and doesn't resort to swearing.
Man ranting on the internet about the Superbowl halftime show or complaining that something is "woke"? Hobbyless Behaviour. Girls mocking another girl for not looking right? Hobbyless Behaviour. Mindless vandalism? Hobbyless Behaviour.
It is more powerful than "get a life" or the English "You're Sad" because it gets to the central point of the matter, and that is wonderful. Danke, Deutsch.
I tried to draw an APH parody of it Apologies, this exists now

I used to see this image all the time in December but now literally nobody cares. We as a society have forgotten him. All he wanted was to offer us a nice treat and what did we do? We abandoned him. Hell has taken refuge in our hearts and its fires have burned to ash all warmth and love. We should be ashamed.
Holy shit???? New scam strategy alert! Apparently scammers will use your identity to accuse you from selling child porn!!! Do not fall for this bullshit 😭😭😭😭😭 lmfoaifjapfj
Oh jeeze! That IS new!
Make sure you guys are aware of this, as it's likely the same scammers as those 'I accidentally reported you' scammers, all in an effort to try and get you to add them to discord or some other chat app and then have you pay them money.
Be careful guys!

“Cats don’t actually love you”
A cat is a small creature in the middle of the food chain that is fully aware that you are a very large thing that could stomp its head in at any moment and yet it chooses to rest its tiny little head on your leg for a nap and spreads out on the floor near you exposing its belly and its most sensitive organs. It brings dead mice and bugs to you to share food.
Don’t you get it? This tiny thing trusts you. It wants to help you too. It licks your leg thinking that it’s helping. It kneads on you to find comfort. It shares its body warmth with you in the cold and gives you your space in the heat. It hisses at other mammals it sees outside including other cats in an effort to protect its family.
Cats love you so so much. But they will keep trying to eat plastic.

for those who don’t remember, “mole interest” was an experiment I did 2 years ago because I wanted to test what causes tags to go trending on tumblr. My hypothesis was that all it takes is one (1) post blowing up in an established tag to make the entire tag trend.
I had randomly generated 2 words, which is where “mole interest” came from. I failed to consider that by generating a new tag, it wouldn’t have had enough posts already in it to prove what I now call “the mole interest effect”.
But now it does.
In 2023, we said “fuck it” a la mythbusters and ended up doing whatever it took to get #mole interest to trend. And it did. And it happened to be September 11th that day, and we managed to get #mole interest to trend ABOVE #9/11.
So, in the name of science, I ask you to reblog just this post. Let’s put the mole interest effect to the test.
