“I could still kick your ass,” Shenzi countered, quirking a brow. “Besides, Batman is too much of a goody goody, I’m probably more like Catwoman. I can swing either way. "I dunno, maybe…” she considered the possibility.
“Sexually?” he couldn’t resist the comment, a grin spreading across his face. “And you probably could, especially right now and all,”
“Nonsense, I don’t have a heart,” Shenzi countered, but she was joking as well, at least to an extent. “Thanks,” she said with a genuine smile. Although they gave each other hell sometimes, she knew Banzai was her closest friend and that she could trust him when it came down to it. “Yeah, there are, and plenty of people here that would deserve it. And it changes things out there, too. I guess I would technically be considered a vigilante now, but…oh well.”
“Please, you aren’t buff enough to be Batman,” he teased, sniffing a little hard, something done more out of habit lately than for the reason he used to do it, “And you could have a heart, it’s just working for the first time or somethin’,”
OOC: I apologize for not being around guys, everyone at my work decided to go on vacation at once and I had to cover everyones shifts. I am off today at least, before working three more days and after that I am hoping to be around more. This goes for all my guys not just Banzai. Now maybe things will settle down and I can be around again.
“Not that madness, the magic madness. You know, the people tap dancing and singing everything they say, or changing in other ways,” Sheer told him, realizing he must sound mad. “Nevermind. Alright,” he sat down in his chair behind the desk and took out a couple bottles of cold water. “Try to drink some of this, you need to stay hydrated if you’re still getting sick. Now, I’m all ears. What’s on your mind?”
He tilted his head at the water for a moment before taking it, he ended up nearly drinking half of it. “Apparently I got more than just substance abuse goin’ on, I don’t know, I don’t think I’m nuts, then again normal people don’t drive a camaro into a freeway guard for shits and giggles, hyped up on cocaine and whatever else I did that day,” he did air quotes with his fingers when he said normal. The water kind of made his stomach churn a little, but he ignored it, that was the last thing he needed was to puke water all over a doctors desk. “I’m Banzai, er, Robert Diersort,” his name felt foreign on his lips, he never used it, much less said it.
Sheer heard a knock at his door and a voice asking for a doctor and tilted his head down to look at the glass on his hands. “I’ll be with you in a moment,” he called through the door, backing heat was left in the glass and locking the bottle back in the refrigerator before standing up and going over to open the door a crack, peering out. “Is everything alright? Is it the madness?” He asked looking banzai over to see that nothing seemed to be relatively crazy off about him like the others had been. He stepped back to open the door wider. “Come on in,” he told the other man.
Banzai stared, "Well....hate to break it to ya but it's kind of a nuthouse and everyone has the madness?" He answered, staring at Sheer like he'd grown a second head before coming in. "So uh...I gotta like spill my feelings or some shit, now that I've spilled my actual guts in a toilet for a few weeks..." he explained, curling into a chair.
Sheer walked into his office and closed the door to tune out the sounds of all the crazy stuff happening, having just been looking after several of his patients to make sure they were alright. He opened the mini refrigerator that he kept locked underneath his desk and pulled out a chilled bottle of brandy, opening it up and pouring himself a glass. He took a long pull from the glass and sighed. “Once again, the madness has descended on this place. And it’s not even a full moon.”
Banzai had been detoxing for a week now, convinced he was dying and not gonna make it. The nurse who had been helping insisted he go and talk to a doctor. He hadn't talked to one since the court hearing and he'd been too high to figure out what exactly they were saying, plus you can't pay attention with a busted nose. He went to the first door he found and knocked, "Hey, is there a doctor in there?"
“Shut up, no it didn’t!” Shenzi said, punching his arm lightly. “You really think so? You don’t think I’m going soft?” She asked, tilting her head. “It’s just, the way I see it. The kid who saved my life was an innocent. If I’d…played with him, he wouldn’t have been there and I’d be dead right now.” She admitted, moving through her thought process. There was more to it, but she wasn’t quite ready to admit to that yet.
“Did too!” he retorted, still clearly joking. His features returned to seriousness and he shook his head, “No I don’t think you’re going soft,” Banzai said through several mouthfuls of rice, taking in another and swallowing, it was actually staying on his stomach and he wasn’t about to give it up, “Plus there’s a lotta people in here who got some serious shit goin’ on with them,”
“I just wanted to leave the hair dye for you. I didn’t mean to startle you.” Rory gave him a smile, “Go back to sleep. Sorry to wake you.” She nodded and turned to leave.”
"Nah, I needed to wake up anyway," he said, "thanks, you didn't really have to get it," Banzai laughed, "Even if my roots are shit."
Shenzi cracked a smile, picking up one of the boxes herself and opening it for some sweet and sour chicken. “I…dunno. Ever since some stuff happened last year, I’ve just been picking my playthings more carefully. I’ve stopped hurting people who don’t deserve it, like…like some kind of filter or something.”
"Awww you're heart grew three sizes," Banzai teased, shooting her a grin, "I guess that's good though? For real," he added before stuffing a mouthful of the rice into his mouth and chewing.
“Well then at least you’ll have something to puke up besides your guts,” Shenzi pointed out with a shrug. “Chinese.”
"I don't have any guts left at this point," he commented, digging about until he found fried rice, "So why the hell not, so what kind of thinkin' ?" He asked again, genuinely curious.
“Oh, I know you don’t do it, you don’t have to tell me that,” Shenzi told him, setting down a box with some food in it. “Yeah? I’m actually kinda proud of you for that. You should try to eat something, then at least.”
“But what if I puke it up again?” he asked, picking up one of the boxes and sniffing it, “What is it?”
Shenzi smirked and shook her head. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and mostly avoiding people. You could’ve just come to my room if you wanted to see me.”
“Thinking is dangerous, that’s why I don’t do it,” he commented, tossing his hair out of his eyes with a twitch of his head, “Eh, I’ve been...detoxing” he did air quotes with his fingers when he said detoxing, the corner of his mouth going up in a disgusted look, “So it’s been puke city and shakes,”
“Holy shit, what?” Banzai had fallen asleep in a chair in the rec room, the sound of someone moving around waking him up, “Huh…oh, hi,”
“I /said/ I brought you some dinner so wake up, dipshit,” Shenzi said, tossing a pillow at his head. It sounded harsh, but to her, calling Banzai dipshit was a term of endearment.
“Excuse you,” He said, settling back into the chair, catching the pillow and holding it close to his chest “Least I know you’re alive now and someone didn’t like, eat you or something,”
“Holy shit, what?” Banzai had fallen asleep in a chair in the rec room, the sound of someone moving around waking him up, “Huh...oh, hi,”
“So, you have some medication abuse issues?” Rory tried not to act too curious as it was usually a serious and private topic, but when she reminded herself that she was a nurse her confidence shot up. “Being in that kind of environment skyrockets the abuse rate. It’s much easier to find oneself addicted if friends and family aren’t supportive. Do you want to return to music after your stay here?”
“cocaine addiction, addictive personality, something something, I dunno,” Banzai explained, basically if he could get a high off of it he’d try it. “Everyone did it so, I guess you could call it that, I just did it...more,” he rocked his hand from side to side in an eh motion before nodding, “Yeah, I love it, I did some solo stuff when our singer was gone, before I drove my car into a interstate barrier, they got a decent guitar in the music room here that I bang away on sometimes,”
“I’ll get you one of each in case you change your mind.” Rory smiled, highlighting a few words between talking. “Heavy meds? They can be killer, just make sure to eat some saltine crackers. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but crackers and some sprite always help me.” Rory looked up, “Wow, that’s cool. What kind of music do you guys play?”
He just nodded, “Yeah, I kinda, raided the medicine locker and got high off of some of it, and they did the whole detox medication shit again, so I’m back to nausea city,” he explained, tugging his bottom lip down in an oops face, “Oh, we play like, metal, some of it has a rock sound, our concerts were notorious for being like, don’t come unless you can handle a few bruises, the mosh pits got intense, sleep all day, party all night sort of stuff,”

Banzai nodded, “I might take you up on that, please,” he added at the end, he stubbed the dwindling remains of the cigarette out on his boot, the slight smell of burned rubber existing for a second, “I think you got it, I mean, I know I couldn’t, shit, I barely made it outta high school,” he commented, reading over some of the stuff to just see what it all entailed, “Probably why I played guitar instead of going to college,” he laughed.
“The same shade of red or do you want something different?” Rory smiled, and pulled out a scribbled sticky of a to-do list. Underneath a few crossed out items, she added Get B hair dye: good quality. “I’ll come and find you tomorrow. Oh, wait, I think I’m off tomorrow. Would you mind waiting until Wednesday? Well, I’m sure Lena wouldn’t mind stopping by. We’ll come drop it off tomorrow.” She said, sure of herself. “You play the guitar?”
“Yeah, I’m kinda used to it, thought of going back black, but nah” Banzai said after thinking for a moment. He watched her write it down, then nodded, “It’s whenever, I mean, for all I know I’ll be puking my guts up tomorrow, this new shit they got me on, it’s like playin’ roulette,” he nodded, “Yep, in a band, The Hyena Laughs,”
