Nataly Dawn de Pomplamoose <3 platĂłnica musical
Whoa y’all, check out Marshmallow World, the latest music video from pomplamoose-music's Nataly Dawn and ryanlerman!
if you’ve never listened to Pomplamoose you should go on youtube and look up some of their cuteass videosÂ
This is half of my room now, I cleaned it out threw away anything I did not need. On my wall we have #JohnLennon #rocker art I bought #MarilynMonroe, a #Pomplamoose poster my friend got me at their #NewYork concert (which was a blast!) #Pictures my #mini #DoctorWho #collection #CaptainJack #poster #HarleyQuinn poster #black #candles and #BuddhaHeads that were given to me, on the floor we have my desk with my #computer #color pencils and #FinalFantast10 picture next to it is my #turntable and after comes my #TV on the stand that holds my #DiaDeLosMuertos #skull #cardcapture #cards and underneath that on a shelf of its own is my #Lootcrate stuff #ukulele is on my desk as well and underneath my Loot crate stuff is my #Xbox lol
Everyone feels like a monster sometimes
"It’s a marshmallow world in the winter, When the snow comes to cover the ground, It’s the time for play, it’s a whipped cream day, I wait for it all year round. Those are marshmallow clouds being friendly, In the arms of the evergreen trees, And the sun is red like a pumpkin head, It’s shining so your nose won’t freeze.”
Pomplamoose was also skewered for paying their back-up band too much money. Why shouldn’t their back-up band do it for exposure and just crash in the van instead of at hotels? The reason it is ridiculous to suggest that is the same reason why contract workers everywhere get paid an hourly wage or contract amount for a project – they aren’t investors in the business and they can’t be expected to assume the risk. Backing bands, engineers, and lighting and sound technicians are all a part of the infrastructure of the music industry. Pomplamoose is actually creating jobs here. Don’t we need more highly skilled jobs? The reality is that we’ve reduced American culture to a system of arbitrary donations and pats on the head. That isn’t sustainable. Corporate and trust funded music will survive, but will its message represent the diversity of our culture? No. And resentment is building – a resentment that is quite clear with the level of anger generated by just one mid-level band publishing just one article about the difficulty of surviving in the music business.
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT.
Fucking fed up with these "news" websites thinking they have a story about these pomplamoose lies. Promoting these lies and ruining a great bands reputation just for views on their website. Bullshit.
Last week, indie-folk duo Pomplamoose earned plenty of chatter after they revealed that, while taking the band on tour, they sold over $100,000 in tickets—but still emerged from their tour in the red, losing $11,000. That number felt sobering: In a post originally published on Medium, band member…
Fuck Pomplamoose. Â Fucking poseurs.
Do your research.
Pomplamoose said in their livecast that they’re not starving artists. They pay themselves, their band, and for hotels because they can. They’ve bought a house off of MP3 sales a couple years ago. They don’t have to sleep on the floor. If making money was the primary goal from this tour they might have. Nataly Dawn from Pomplamoose said it herself:
What we put into this tour is very different from the usual investment that bands put into tours. A lot bands that have to make a living from their tour have to be really, really careful about every penny they spend, and that’s not to say that we weren’t being careful about our spending, but we have priorities for this tour and we’re not a touring band so we don’t have to make a living from this tour so our primary goal for this tour was not to make a bunch of money, fortunately, that would have been really disappointing if it had been. Our primary goal was to put on a kick-ass show for our fans and to have a really good time. Those were our two primary goals and the finance thing was really not even secondary.Â
They set out on this tour not to make money but to generate positive externalities later in the future such as a stronger fanbase and better tours in the future. It even said this in the article itself:
But this isn’t a sob story. We knew it would be an expensive endeavor, and we still chose to make the investment. We could have played a duo show instead of hiring six people to tour with us. That would have saved us over $50,000, but it was important at this stage in Pomplamoose’s career to put on a wild and crazy rock show. We wanted to be invited back to every venue, and we wanted our fans to bring their friends next time. The loss was an investment in future tours.

I was attempting a Nataly Dawn… Did I succeed?
#tbt to that one time I got to half-hug Jack Conte
Thanks in large part to YouTube, Pomplamoose has become a fairly successful independent band, but even so, turning a profit requires a daily grind.

Pomplamoose lets you in on every little detail of the financial balance sheet of their most recent tour. Â
(Spoiler: They lost money, but they consider it as an investment in future tours)
It’s very interesting to get to see business details for a truly independent band.
