The work week is over for me, and hopefully that means I can move past my art block. Got some new paper that I tried tonight, which I don't think works for my painting style, but I love these colours so that's okay
Work has been draining this week, so I don't have the capacity to plan and execute artwork, so.. instead I'm on my third book this week? I guess there's still hope for making my yearly reading goal
I dug up some old hot press cotton paper (Canson Moulin du Roy) in my hidden paper stack and decided to try it out today – I have mixed feelings?
I ended up doing a comparison in my cold press cotton sketchbook (Hahnemühle) and that helped. I still prefer it but I think I can see where the Canson paper could work. I do have some Fabriano hot press that I'm too scared to approach but I think I might just have to do that to see if Canson is what's weird or if it's all hot press paper. Maybe the Canson is simply too old? Who knows
A lake on a summer's day, wishing I was there instead
.. the moon doesn't need to be perfectly round, right? I was a little too optimistic about my ability to leave a perfect circle out of the wash for the sky
note to self: use masking fluid for circles next time
a small part of me tends to think that watercolour landscapes are basic and redundant, boring to view, but every other part of me has so much fun creating paintings like this and isn't that kind of the point of being human and making art? to have fun doing it and to enjoy the result no matter what others think? I love art like, and so I paint and enjoy it, and hopefully it brings a breath of fresh air to your feed
(watercolours on cotton paper, 10x15cm)
I made the mistake of listening to the news and realised the only reasonable thing left to do in this cursed timeline is to paint my dog.
I hope you love him as much as I do and he adds a sprinkle of joy to your feed
Among many wonky attempts a poodle appeared
Idk why but when I woke up today I felt like doing some doodling so.. here we are.
Exhibit N° 1 – a rotund magpie (5cm x 7cm)
on to the next one
Exhibit N°2 – A dog. Maybe a German Shepherd? (7cm x 4cm)
How about one more, just because?
Exhibit N°3 – It's an anteater (my favourite animal), a very long boi (10cm x 3cm)
All sketches are watercolour and ink on hot pressed paper. A Sunday well spent, I think.
I did some doodling in the garden and one of the creatures that appeared on my paper is this adventurous little space chicken. Let's wish her well on her exploration 🚀
A blob that was meant to be a planet but somehow became a bird instead?
Placing the seal of approval on my blog 🦭 Things can't go wrong now, can they?
