Can’t stop staring at my new ring from a Dime Store in San Antonio... And can’t stop listening to Kacey Musgraves.
Love Songs Playlist
Happy Valentine’s Day! I give you a list of several of my favorite love songs.
It's always in the details. Here's a snap of a wall in our home. My home style is a mix of modern, minimal, bohemian, old and new. And since I live in the Midwest there's always a touch of coziness to everything. Somehow it works.
We just inhaled Italian food. And this place is lovely and Coldplay is playing in the background and it's a wonderful life and all the things... Thankful to be on a date weekend with my Benny boo boo. (at Alexander's Italian Bistro)
I’m thankful to be alive. I know that seems so simple, so cliche. But really, I’m in a mood where everything feels stronger, colors are clearer, my mind is aware of how much good I experience. Sometimes I’m overcome by deep sadness and have an outlook on life that’s filled with doom. And then there are days like this. I woke up and saw a buncha stuff on my Facebook newsfeed that made me laugh. I got a funny text from my husband. And there’s new music out from a couple amazing old/new artists playing in the background. I’m gonna get some work done today for my job that allows me to work creatively and independently, two things I’ve been desperate to have in my work. Ben and I are about to have an awesome weekend together traveling. It just feels like a lot of little things adding up to feel GOOD. It’s not that all my problems are resolved, but that I have this awesome sense I’m going to be fine and things will get better. This might seem like a lot of random rambling to someone who stumbles upon a blog...but to me it was a feeling I needed to write down. I know I’ll need to reflect on this another day when I’m lookin’ down the road at doom.
Today I’m thankful for the little home things. A freshly cleaned bathroom, holiday scented candles, cute decor. I’m just thankful that our little place is homey. It’s ours and I love it.
Today I’m thankful for my experiences. They’ve made me better, stronger, and wiser. I look forward to more.
I'm so THANKFUL for Casey. She's creative, authentic, smart, brave, loyal, and a highly valued friend. And her home is he cutest!
I've been awake since 2:30am Colorado time to fly here and see friends. I'm so so thankful for the awesome friendships I have in CO. These friends are difference makers in this precious thing called life.
Thankful that when we took our car into the shop today it wasn't crazy expensive to get it fixed. I'm always nervous it's gonna be $2k to fix a problem. $258 isn't the worst for a working car.
November 2nd, I’m thankful for this song and a good good Father.
Love so undeniable I can hardly speak. Peace so explainable I can hardly think.
Hey November!
Thanksgiving is a few weeks away and it’s my favorite holiday. It has been for many years. I love the food, football in the background, being at home, and attitudes of thankfulness all around. I always take a super long nap after the big meal too!
Growing up I was regularly reminded how lucky I am. It wasn’t in an arrogant way or held over my head. It was an honest and truthful reminder that gave me perspective. My dad would simply ask questions like, “Have I told you lately how much I love you? Have I told you lately how much I love your mom? Do you know there’s a lot of kids who don’t have it as good as you? Do you realize how lucky you are?” It became something I just heard now and then and didn’t really sink in. Now as an adult I see things much differently. I realize how right he was. I’m seriously so lucky. I’m lucky to have parents that truly love each other. I’m lucky that I’m healthy. I’m lucky I live in a country with so many freedoms. I’m lucky I have the skills I have. I’m lucky to have my husband. I could go on. I’m lucky I have so much to be thankful for in my life.
Fortunate. Good Vibes. Karma. Juju. Blessed. Whatever, however you need to put it. Be thankful for it.
One of the best ways I’ve found to handle disappointment is to think about what I’m grateful for instead of allowing the that disappointment to lead to a cycle of negativity. It wasn’t easy at first, but slowly and surely, I was able to change my perception and handle disappointment differently. I hesitate to admit that I’m very capable of barreling down the road of negativity and get really low really fast. But I learned that when I choose instead to think positively and thankfully, I’m a lot happier. I’m a lot better.
This month I’ll post something I’m thankful for as often as I can. Some days it’ll be more than one thing. Some days I might just list that thing and some days I might write all my feelings on it. It’s gonna be awesome.
November 1st, 2015 - Today I’m thankful for my future. Instead of fearing it or worrying about it, I’m thankful I have it.
