Australian Geographic (print) is $1/word generally for features. Shorter stories may be more of a an agreed flat rate. Website is around 50-60c/word, depending on experience. Payment is in a two-week cycle if you're already set up in the Bauer Media system.
VICE pays $80 per piece for new, inexperienced writers. And generally $120-$170 for everyone else. If a writer has a profile it's negotiated individually and can be more. Articles tend to be 600-800 words.

Print paper, $900 for 1500 words.
Yen is 30cent/word.
Harpers Bazaar pays around 70c, sometimes more if the writer is more experienced.
Adelaide Review and Melbourne Review - rates recently cut from 40c / word: For articles up to 500 words: $125 / For articles 501 – 800 words: $200 / For articles 801 – 1200 words: $300 / For articles 1201+ words: $400 / Book reviews: long (approx. 500 words): $200; short (175-200 words): $75 / Cinema reviews: 300 words: $100 / Theatre reviews (online only): no pay.
GQ Australia pays $0.75 a word. News Life Media is generally really good at paying invoices, as long as the editor remembers to give them to the editorial assistant to process.
Sunday Style - 75c/word, Home Beautiful magazine - 70c/word
Broadsheet Sydney: $30 for a news (300-400 words) or profile piece (200-250 words), and $50 for features, which are around 500-600 words.
FasterLouder and Mess and Noise do not pay contributors - they do have fulltime staff who are paid. Contribs to FL M&N and Same Same are all part of their member base and work for nix...
Concrete Playground pays $20 per review (about 400-500 words)
Latte Life Newspaper 80c per word, invoice paid within 14 days

Beat pay $30 per feature, nothing for reviews. Paid promptly on a weekly basis following publication. Everguide pay $40 per feature.
Frankie pay rate's incorrect - for a 600-650 word thing you'll get paid between $275 and $315. For a 1000-1200 word thing, $500.
