I know it's not worth the time to even engage, but this *67 year old* just called me fat because I rejected his attempt to message me after stalking my profile for a while. Lots of folks have asked me if I think online misogyny occurs because people feel anonymous, and I think that's the wrong question. I think the questions "why does misogyny still occur/ what can I do about?" to be more helpful. Of course, the internet is a platform for anything, but it's just a platform. Even if this dude wouldn't say this to my face, don't you think his attitude would still affect the women he interacts with? Just because people are uninhibited online doesn't mean that the internet is the problem.
