So. I’ve finally decided that I am going to hike the John Muir Trail this summer. Over 200 miles. Solo. 

I’ve been researching and at this point the next step is crossing my fingers that I get my bid for my wilderness permit. I’ll be submitting mine in the next couple weeks. They’re saying that this year more than 70% of all permit requests will be denied, so I can really only hope for the best.

also weird: the last time i posted was almost exactly 2 years ago.

welp. i’m MARRIED. we just spent a month backpacking around southeast asia for our honeymoon. i’m beyond jetlagged and decided to just get out of bed rather than lay on my back in darkness.

i truly need to get better at writing shit down. either here or in my journal that i also never use unless i’m really angry, really sad, or really feeling my inner hippy.

but yeah, life is good, man. adulting isn’t that great, but i’m learning that life just constantly throws crap your way, and you just get better at dealing with it.

crazy to think that in a little over a year i’ll be 30. i keep thinking about what that means to me, if anything. like, society tells you that 30 is this big deal, right? but, iunno. i’ve got goals and stuff, but nothing set in stone to be accomplished by 30. i’ve got a year to figure it out, though. maybe that’ll be the next post. a year from now.

Life is weird. I feel like everyone in my family is dying and/or getting ill. It was recently the anniversary of my dad's passing, which normally makes September and October (and the holidays) rough for me, but with the added stress of wedding planning on top of it all, it makes his absence all the more obvious. And then wedding planning. Jace and I are definitely not made of money, and now both of our cars are costing us a fortune. My mum is widowed and unemployed. This wedding feels daunting and impossible. And pointless. Like, honestly. The more I get into it, the more disappointed and frustrated I get. We are going to spend the rest of our lives together, so why all this money for about five hours? It's ridiculous. Elopement is sounding more and more realistic and fantastic. I never understood why people do it until now. I know money doesn't equal happiness and that it shouldn't be important, but good god it's the major source of why things go wrong. Even our trip to the International Hot Air Balloon Festival this weekend is being cancelled because we can't afford it and the stupid government shutdown has closed all the campgrounds and websites we needed to plan this trip. Not only is it a bucket list item of mine, but I want it to be a tribute to my dad. He loved hot air balloons. This is the 6278293th year it hasn't worked out. Le ugh. Okay, whining over. Life is awesome and complaining is pointless and selfish. Rant over and out.

it's been a while!

i added a little instagram button to my tumblr page under all my info so that those who don't have a smartphone/don't follow me can access what i'm up to since i so rarely post on here anymore.

quick update, though, while i'm here:

life is good. standing on the edge of summer (what am i, sixteen? quoting Thursday?) and before i know it i'll be diving into wedding planning which is both petrifying and exciting. i just want to be able to snap my fingers and *poof* party.

jace and i have been making it a point to camp every weekend, which is mostly what i post on instagram. we've been to some really freaky spots. just got back from the salton sea, which is basically the hills have eyes on crack. it's both the coolest and scariest place i've ever been to and we can't wait to go back... with guns. 

work is work. i'm five years in and starting to actually see it as a job and less of a hobby, which bums me out. i think i'm just in dire need of a vacation and maybe work will be fun again. i used to travel a lot more, and perhaps that's why it feels so mundane. only one way to find out. :D

I couldn't find the answer anywhere so here's the question: Can you go to college/university and still be a flight attendant?

hi hi! sorry i took so long to respond. 

i know a bunch of people that are doing the whole FA/school thing at the same time, but they've been in the business for a while so that they're no longer on reserve. once you have enough seniority to build your own work schedule then it's just like any job in terms of making it work with your class schedule. i can't imagine doing it while on reserve, but every airline has a different way of scheduling reserve, so it's not impossible, per se. a few of my girlfriends that were FAs were having a difficult time making life tolerable juggling the two, so they transferred to being gate agents instead and apparently it's a lot easier to manage and they still get to keep their flight benefits. that might be something to look into as well. :]

Life has been absolute shit lately. I know layovers are fun and awesome and all that. I know I should be thankful for everything that I have and do. I am very lucky despite these crap cards I keep getting dealt. I know. But good goddamn, now my landlord is trying to sue me and accusing us of causing mold at the place we just moved out of.
