Since directing a film about high school kids, i’ve done nothing more than watch films about high school kids. Most recently? The Perfect Date, on Netflix. Wouldn’t it be cool if something like that existed? I could just use the app, and get someone to come with me to uncomfortable family gatherings. That way I wouldn’t have to explain to my 80 year old grandmother why I’m still single. In reality, granny, I’m still single because I want to be.
Kids, my advice? Don’t rush it. Trust me, I got married at 18 and I missed out on a shit lot of things. Go out there, make mistakes, get up, make more mistakes and enjoy your life.
Lady directors are going to rule the world one day. That’s pretty cool! What exactly about high school kids does your film focus on? Sounds to me like the modern version of The Wedding Date. Most family gatherings are uncomfortable, let’s be honest and all grandmothers ask that question to their single grandkids. Because you want to be isn’t an accepted answer yet? - Young love, young marriage isn’t for everyone. I got married pretty young and we’re coming up on our 19th year. But I can agree, part of being young is the fun of making mistakes.
