Still blows my mind how quickly capitalism self-destructed streaming tv
Like netflix rejuvenated a dying market and made it way more afforadable and accessible, and then… everyone needed a slice of the pie and fucked the whole thing up
The Amazon is burning. You can help save the rainforest right now.
I keep seeing posts spreading awareness about the Amazon fires, and it makes me feel angry and helpless, so I looked into it and found some articles like this one that list some things that every one of us can do. Specifically:
Protect an acre of rainforest through the Rainforest Action Network.
Help buy land in the rainforest through the Rainforest Trust.
Support the rainforest’s indigenous populations with Amazon Watch.
Reduce your paper and wood consumption or buy rainforest safe products through the Rainforest Alliance.
Support arts, science, and other projects that raise awareness about the Amazon through the Amazon Aid Foundation.
Help protect animals living in the jungle with WWF.
Reduce your beef consumption. Rainforest beef is typically found in fast-food hamburgers or processed beef products.
Make your voice heard by signing a petition.
If you’re in a position to help protect the rainforest on a macroscale, Foreign Policy argues that one of the most powerful tools for protecting the region is to work with businesses rather than against them. This is particularly effective in the beef industry, because as Foreign Policynotes, domestic meat producers in Brazil work with international companies that “are committed to zero-carbon standards, in principle” and are more susceptible to public outcry than Bolsonaro. They suggest that trade, distribution, and financing deals that are dependent on protecting the rainforest and sustainability can be a boon to the planet and to Brazilians who depend on the rainforest for their livelihoods.
So if you care about the fires and want to help… here’s some things you can do!
Voguing is the same thing as, like, taking two knives and cutting each other up, but through a dance form. Voguing came from shade, because it was a dance that two people did because they didn’t like each other. Instead of fighting, you would dance it out on the dance floor, and whoever did the better moves was throwing the best shade, basically.
The name was taken from the magazine “Vogue”, because some of the movements of the dance are also the same as the poses inside the magazine. The name is a statement in itself. I mean, you really wouldn’t go to a ball to do the “Mademoiselle”. No way.
Like break dancing, the dance takes from the hieroglyphics of Ancient Egypt. It also takes from some forms of gymnastics. They both strive for perfect lines in the body, awkward positions, but it goes one step further.
It’s starting to make a name for itself, but I want it to be known worldwide, and I wanna be on top of it when it hits.

this year will be wonderful. you will meet new people who will feel like sunlight. someone out there will be lucky enough to meet you. you will see breathtaking views. you will learn so much knowledge from your studies and gain so much wisdom. there will be bad days but you will heal and start again in the morning. you will discover what makes you happy. you will fill up journals with scribbles and messy drawings. you will feel low and make mistakes but they will help you become a stronger person. you will pick up new things that give your life meaning and you will pour your heart into it. you will find songs that speak to you more than anything else in the world. you will grow. this year is waiting for you and it’s beautiful.
we joke about tumblr’s pjge (post john green era) but it is legitimately wild that a) a social media site allowed others to edit your posts for five years, and b) that we all agreed to use the honor system about it until mr. green arrived
i know this may not be very important for you guys, but i just wanted to inform you guys on our situation in hong kong. millions of us are marching against the extradition bill that could see our freedom as a special administrative region being stripped away. as a hongkonger, i am devastated by what’s going on and the possible loss of our freedom. please, you don’t have to support either side, i just wanted you guys to know what is going on and hope you can keep a clear conscience. we are bleeding for freedom and justice. we face tear gas and rubber bullets and cry for our rights. lots of my friends are there and may face prosecution. if you can, please spread the message. thank you so much.
