I really think that people need to stop shipping Smith Hockey and Celebrini - not for the usual reasons (they're obviously together for now) but because this is so obviously going to burn itself out.
This is Celebrini's first experience of...this. He's going through a lot of milestones - including falling in love for the first time. And that last experience has the habit of feeling like The Oneā¢ļø at the time, especially if it's your first same sex relationship. (This, incidentally, is why it's so important to let gay and bi teens date openly. Let them have their developmentally appropriate moments.)
This is normal - as is the fact that the far more experienced Smith Hockey is clearly feeling overwhelmed by the intensity of the dynamic and of Celebrini's devotion. The problem is that Celebrini is having a normal (and normally only mildly embarrassing) experience *completely in the public eye*. It's cool that they don't seem to care what people think, but it can't be fun to go through your first relationship and heartbreak entirely publicly. Or for people to treat it as devastating.
