Girlish Number: Interview with Karasuma Chitose

角倉 創 (Kadokura Hajime?)-san’s popular light novel series 九龍覇王と千年皇女Kyuryu Hao to Sennen Kojo (Ku-sure for short) is finally receiving a TV anime adaptation!
Preceding the anime’s broadcast, we have the highly-anticipated rookie seiyuu Karasuma Chitose who voices main heroine Yuuna, to talk about about the charms of this ‘Moe x Alternate world x Adventure’, world protection-themed love comedy!
Q: Can you tell us about how you felt when you were chosen for the role of the heroine in the TV anime Ku-sure?
A: This is a series I had always wanted to be involved with; a character I had always wanted to play, so I was really happy when I won the audition when I received word of it. Finally, I This animated adaptation of a series will be that is widely recognized will be starting soon, and I do feel thrilled and excited. I’ve yet to play the heroine this type of role up until this point so obviously I do have my worries and concerns sometimes about whether I’m right for the role, but I will work my absolute hardest in order to meet the expectations of the director, producers and sound director viewers and the readers.
Q: Were you aware of the source material? Please tell us your impressions upon reading the light novel.
A: I’d been a big fan of the novels since I was in elementary school from before; it was is my favourite series! I’m filled with excitement, trying to predict which character is saying a particular line what will happen next as I am reading! There are lots of illustrations which means it’s easy to read; all the pages have few words so it’s easy to read. Sometimes, there are difficult words or kanji being used that in a way, make things easier to read; it’s really easy to read, very easy to read. Also, the illustrations are cute! With the art alone, It’s so easy to read. I even bring the manga novels along with me to the studio; I’m always reading them (lol)
Q: Please briefly introduce to us the character that you play.
A: She is not just a cute girl ; although she shoulders the weight of a thousand years and the burden of blood, she possesses an inner strength that never allows a single complaint to spill from her lips. One of Ku-sure’s charms lies in how she battles against the ‘Dragon’ that is the symbol of good and evil. But at the same time, she is indeed just a normal girl who falls in love with love.
Q: What similarities do you feel you share with the character that you play?
A: Things like the colour of our hair and our eyes are totally different but my friend does often tell me that we give off I do sometimes think that it would be nice if we gave off a similar impression from our appearances (lol). I honestly don’t think so myself though; I wish they would stop saying that. But that friend keeps on saying that I should be able to pull off being an idol so next time around, I really need to keep give them a good scolding.
Q: What would you like to highlight about the TV anime Ku-sure?
A: Even if it’s painful or if you feel like you’re being deceived waiting for the unpredictably I hope that you will enjoy watching as the story has plenty of shocking developments! in episode 3, just be patient and watch! Also…perhaps, my acting (lol) In the first episode you’ll already see a commonly played out scene where the characters are changing clothes and they suddenly jump into a battle and Ah it’s so embarrassing for me to say though (lol)

A: Karasuma Chitose will work her hardest so that she can meet everyone’s expectations!
