If it’s any consolation, here’s my headcanon you’ll probably like:

I can imagine my Cousland making sure the kids don’t bring down the entire Grand Cathedral while their mother (I’m making Leliana the Divine in this case) is holding court with important leaders.

Leliana and the HoF are now proud parents of a litter of nugs and one poor ol’ mabari, enjoying life while they can at Leliana’s villa. Maker knows they both deserve it. Also, the nugs decided that mabari chow tastes better than nug feed.

As a fan of the Cousland origin in DAO, it's always bothered me that most fans keep talking about it as "the most boring origin" the game had to offer. Do you think theirs is a fair assessment? And why do you think people so often feel this way about it?

In a game with Elves, Dwarves, and now Qunari, it is easy to write the human origins off as “Boring”. Why be an everyday human, when you can be something you’re not.

Except it’s not true, the human origins are and can be as interesting as the other origins. My only complaint is that it’s been the same human background for several games now (Human Noble) and not something new to explore (a Chasind, Commoner, or Avvar background). Other than that I do enjoy the human backgrounds and Cousland is a heart wretching one, to watch your family die out before your eyes. Not to mention like every origin someone plays, it’s all about how you roll it and change it to fit your game and character. 

So I always think it is unfair to claim the human origins are boring, when they do have the same potential as any background.

An ardent Cousland fan that I am, I can relate to this. Each origins has their interesting/boring side. It really depends on how you see it. 

From the way I see it, I find playing as elves/dwarves/qunari boring too. All these races share one similarity - they are looked down upon by humans, who make up the majority of the population in Thedas. They are considered as heretics, unusual rituals/traditions and with stereotypes. Isn’t playing the typical oppressed race boring? This “oppressed race” theme has been appearing in countless of fantasy movies/books/games, even IRL. I’ve played many games, read many books and it’s basically the same oppressed people trying to fight for something in the name of freedom bla bla bla and the likes. It’s all politics. The same recurring theme in most games/movies/etc.

Besides, there’s nothing wrong with being your everyday human. It’s my preference. How can I judge living life as a human boring when it is the only life I’ve ever known? I live a life full of oppression and being labelled as “different” from everyone and, believe me, I am tempted to be normal and blend in just like everyone else.

To some, playing as the oppressed race in a fantasy world might sound romantic and exciting even, but for me, it’s my everyday. I know what it’s like to live like an oppressed being IRL and I don’t need any of those crap in my games to remind me of my problems in the real world as well. In case I haven’t made myself clear, no origins is dull or boring than the other. It all depends on one’s perspective.

Oh my god it’s finally finished. You guys. I have poured my heart and soul into this comic, working on it nonstop for a week straight. This comic is the reason I even joined tumblr. I’ve had this in my head for so long and it’s finally done. 

Honestly I don’t know what to say. I hope many people get to see and enjoy the fruits of my labor and I hope it makes you feel the way I feel.
