You’ve heard of “you don’t even have a dog” and now for the Marissa fans out there might I suggest people saying to her post-launch:

“You weren’t even together.”

Marissa being legitimately heartbroken and everyone seeing her grieving and unless they happen to know both her and Ryland the FIRST thing they ask is almost always “Were the two of you an item?”

And when she says no then it becomes “did you want to be?” “did you see him as a brother instead?”

Marissa feeling hurt and frustrated because isn’t it enough that they were friends? Is twenty years of late night conversations, inside jokes, tears, laughter, Thursday dinners like clockwork—is that not enough to say she loved him, plain and simple? Is she not allowed to grieve this way, like a piece of her was torn out without anyone even telling her?

But star-crossed love isn’t for friends, they say. It just doesn’t make a good story.

I'm not INSECURE about posting my fics to the big wide web. I know they're decent. They are well planned, well thought out, proofread and have a clear audience. They might not be award winning literature but they're decent ideas with decent execution, and I know that.

And I'm not embarrassed or insecure or self-hating in being scared to post in a discord server. I know they're nice people and won't be mean. I know what I want to post isn't controversial, spammy, offensive or anything else bad. Half the time it's a freaking compliment to someone else for something cool they have done.

I don't struggle to interact with new people in a group because I doubt my own interaction skills (I'm autistic but like. I know HOW to do it right and I can mask and all so that's not a major issue). I'm a cool person. I have cool friends to back me up on that. I'm liked, I'm funny, and I know that I'm a good person to be around.

I'm just straight up SHY. Like, 'growing out my pixie cut to hide behind' shy. 'my best friends are books' shy. I don't doubt myself, my art, or my social communication skills. I'm just straight up SHY.

it has occurred to me how much of a game changer “, question?” is for me as an autistic person! Because so many times, I will ask a question out of genuine inquiry, and people will assume that I’m being sarcastic or doubting them! By adding “, question?”, I am able to distinguish my real questions and even lighthearted humor questions from sounding disrespectful! This is ESPECIALLY useful in texting/commenting!
