Modern Steddie where they use each other as excuses to turn down unsolicited advances from strangers.
A guy tries to ask Eddie out during one of his gigs with his band and he dutifully says, "Sorry, but my husband should be here any minute now."
A girl tries to flirt with Steve at the gym one day. She's nice, pretty, but Steve's seen her with another guy before and he really doesn't want to end up in the middle of some drama, so he flashes her an apologetic smile and says, "I'm flattered, but I have a boyfriend. Sorry."
They're not dating, though.
Even if they do spend every free moment with each other.
Even if they are constantly chatting and texting and most of the time completely ignoring whoever is with them so they can keep their endless conversations going.
Even if it's not uncommon for them to crash at each other's place and share a bed because after years of friendship they have no sense of personal space anymore.
It's complicated.
I know when we talk about Eddie and Argyle interaction we usually go for the obvious stoner buddies angle but consider. they both got dragged into the upside down shit on the “a crush is sending me places I wouldn’t go with a gun” rule
Like they meet the first time and the exchange is basically “why do you still hang around, you could’ve left after surviving the bats” “why didn’t you go back to California” and then they look at Jonathan and Steve across the room and just. share a warriors nod
Steve and Eddie get marriage counseling…
They’re not married.
They’re not even dating.
They’re having a friendly situation, and thought booking an appointment with a marriage counselor was the best idea.
The situation being:
They each like when the other is around, being in each other’s personal space. They like going out to dinner, sharing the food off of their plates. They like to hold hands, knowing that the other one is close. They like to cuddle, for the same reason as holding hands. They especially like to kiss, as friends, feeling this feeling that’s indescribable.
But, they just don’t understand why everyone else thinks they’re dating.
60 minutes later
They walk out of the appointment, hand in hand, on the way to their first official date.
what about lucas being the first one to clock Steve having a crush on Eddie. Dustin’s so happy that Steve’s taking an interest in Hellfire, Mike’s annoyed that Steve’s hanging around more, but Lucas sees through both of those and is like. Okay Steve tell the truth you like him don’t you
Eddie, who moves to Steve's after the trailer was destroyed. Comes to the kitchen and goes like "Good morning, babygirl" to Steve every day.
At first, it was just to annoy him. And Eddie's always petnaming Steve so it became a habit. And Steve realized he actually liked when Eddie does it when, one morning, Eddie just said "hiii".
Steve had to bite his tongue to not to ask why there was no "babygirl" that morning.

I understand why people like cool confident suave Eddie but to me. Steddie’s at its best when he’s at least 50% shocked at all times. He wakes up with Steve sleeping on him every day and there’s a good part of him that wonders if the bats got him and this is a dream

Robin buys a vintage lamp off Marketplace, and the seller, Chrissy, says that she's sending her friend Eddie to deliver it. This instantly makes Robin too nervous to go pick it up herself, so naturally, she sends Steve to collect it.
Steve returns home after two hours looking like a hot mess, hair all fucked up and shirt totally wrinkled. Robin is freaking out, asking what took so long, why hasn't he been answering his phone, and Steve just shrugs and says "Sorry, the guy who dropped off the lamp was hot. We fooled around in the back of his van and we're going out this weekend."
He hands Robin the lamp as she stands there, completely baffled, and says "Could have been you if you and Chrissy weren't scaredy-cats," before heading off to his room.
