personally i think imposters are just littel parasites that go into one's body after being born (cracked their egg) eat the bone over a few hours or days, and just kinda live inside the host. the host itself doesn't really feel much of a change at first but it becomes clear something's wrong when they discover their inability to touch salt. the host usually doesn't unlock the killing urges unless they feel threatened, in which the "true body" is shown for the first time and takes their first kill. after that, the host gets a sort of euphoria afterwards (they like to kill) which inevitably leads the host to continue killing crewmates. some parasites, if possesing a dead body with no host with a brain, cannot live inside said body normally and instead behave like zombies. i actually came to this conclusion because of the fact that babies can't act on their own when first born and instead follow instinct (find a host, live in there) as they are weak and vunreable on their own. the killing was originally an instinct that the species developed over time because of their vulnerability- if you kill them first, they can't kill you. also that in episode 10 the parasites went into the bodies of the dead crewmates, they didn't have a proper host and instead took the muscle memory of walking, holding things and such. the imposters can change their voices at will too! with every kill, the imposter's body "matures-" as you can see from orange's smaller body to green's much larger one at the end. another reason why i believe my personal theory is because in my last green character analysis, i'd explained that green's personality and memories were the same, as well as their experiences. i feel like a newborn parasite would not be able to replicate exact emotions and personality traits, as well as information on human (amongi?) perception and ways to manipulate. like c'mon they just hatched thats wild. i also find it cool that the host's brains and motivations change over time, too, distancing themself from being human (again, amongi????does it even matter yo) with each kill and thinking of themselves as "better" or "more powerful" than others, dehumanizing them and therefore justifying their kills. the hosts are basically deteriorating into arrogant serial killers driven by overindulgence and selfishness. but hey that's just a theory. a GAME theory
