I deleted all of the art and pictures I had put into this site to avoid AI bro's stealing them. I doubt the little button arriving tomorrow will protect anyone from those companies that have already been actively stealing art for ages without asking concent.

I might just leave tumbrl all together too, and save my writing for Mastodon, since they have some actual protections going on.

a lot of the language used to describe disabled people's legal situation is so misleading... like, ok, "disabled people can't get married without losing our benefits" sounds like a non-issue to most outsiders

but "benefits" would be more accurately called "sole lifelong income"

"disabled people can't get married without losing our sole lifelong income" sounds a lot worse and like we're being intentionally funneled into abusive relationships, eh?

in my least charitable moments, i think a lot of the words chosen by non-disabled outsiders to describe us and our lives and legal situations are intentionally softening the reality of our situation, so it sounds less horrific than it actually is

Also "disabled people get more SSI to pay bills" is a fun way of phrasing the way SSI/SSDI asks for any expenses you're responsible for and maybe pays you just enough to cover basics, because in my lived experience a better phrasing would be "SSI immediately takes away money if you lose a bill, leaving you unable to restart it."

Doesn't sound like much until you lose your apartment and then SSDI decides you don't need to afford rent anymore because then nobody rents to you. I haven't had my own apartment in 10 years and counting because of this and SSDI got so unlivable I have a full time job because it's just as detrimental to my health as the SSDI hoops but it pays better and people don't treat me subhuman as much.

Oh and that "disabled people are allowed to save $2000" is also a fun way of saying "you are literally forced into a vow of poverty if you're too sick to work" but that's another rant
