girl i went to catholic school from ages 2-18 💆‍♀️ it was not for the weak. elementary/middle school wasn’t that bad, but high school was not cute. we had to memorize all the books of the bible, in order and what each was about. i literally remember on my first religion final of hs, the whole test was bible verses and we had to state which book it came from. and the only essay question was asking about the symbolism of different objects from the exile in exodus. that shit traumatized me, i still remember it at my grown age. maybe it was just my hs but they made us go to chapel on thursdays, confession on fridays (there was a sign out sheet to make sure you did it), blazers on church days, and the strictest uniform policy i’ve ever known. my latin teacher was a nun as she was just flat out racist and homophobic. but the other nuns were lowk sweethearts, i even told one i was gay and she really didn’t gaf. sorry for the yap, made a few amazing friends, but it’s hard to find good ones in a sea of maga supporters.

The anxiety confession used to give me was so bad. Literally hated everything about school, it seems like ours were alot alike

Went to a catholic school when I was in high school, and that shit was so freaking hard. Its like the world kept testing my patience and gayness evry single day. 😭😭 I see nuns every single day, there was a time where a nun came barging on our flipping door and shouted at us for being loud😭 (tbh, we weren't even loud, it was the room beside us)

For the Catholic schools one can Paige be the more openly gay one like the one that is more comfortable in her sexuality

Hearing about people's experiences in catholic schools in the states is always a bit weird to me. I went to a catholic school in the UK, where its common for public schools to be catholic or church of England (protestant). So I think the experience can differ slightly, the only things I can remember that were overly religious were having to say a prayer to start the day, and having mass probably once a year. The one thing that did stand out to me is that the school was very tolerant and supportive, there was support and help available for lgbtq kids, and there was a real emphasis on community and diversity, which were values that I think reflected the local catholic church quite well

Yes that is very different from schools in the states! I’m sure there are catholic schools here that are accepting and amazing I just didn’t go to one! 😭

12 years of Catholic school and I still call myself a recovering Catholic. Of all of my friends in life, all I hear is about how Catholic school girls are the freakiest. Take from that what you will.

Most disturbing story is a priest who was way too honest in telling us that 75% of Jesuit priests (Jesuit HS) masturbate while staring at school girls. Barf.

The priests are always absolutely creeps

I went to a co ed catholic school and let me tell you, half the girls were gay and the guys were on the low. The only reason I knew about the dudes is because my good friend was the only out gay guy…well he wasn’t even out but he could not hide it for the life of him lol. Because of this, dudes would slide in his DMs My ex bf being one of them lol I’m being so deadass rn. Honestly everyone who played a sport I was just assuming them as gay, most of the time I was right about it too 💀. 7 out of 8 ppl in my friend group turned out gay after hs so really catholic schools and gayness are like this 🤞🤝 truly it needs to be studied.

At my school being out was truly a death sentence but after graduation sooo many girls came out

I went to Catholic school only for high school and that change from previously being in public school my whole life was honestly crazy very much a fever dream. Having school wide mass in a gym glad I don’t have to do that anymore. I do still have two really good friends from there, but other than that would not go back. Seeing the people that have come out though (myself included) since we graduated is the only thing I keep up with.

I’m not catholic, but I am christian (and lesbian 😊) and even though I never weekly confessions, religious guilt from other “christians” who try to tell me who I can and can’t love is so real and it sucks 😕

Kind of? I believe in God and definitely consider my self to be Christian. That’s part of the reason i like Paige and azzi so much is how they seem so comfortable with their faith and sexuality. But there’s parts of Catholicism I’m just unsure about like the asking saints and Mary for intercession instead of praying directly to Jesus. Plus the confession stuff. Like why can’t I just confess to God and pray about what I’m struggling with/wrongdoings? Why do I have to go through a priest to be forgiven? However, on the other hand, I like how Catholicism treats communion. But I don’t really ever attend mass anymore bc it makes me anxious. My family is part of a pretty large church and insists on sitting in the front few rows and I just am stressed the whole time. My one good friend from college is catholic though, and she’s bi and I love asking her questions bc she’s so strong in it. Plus her perspective feels like more of something I could get behind.

Sorry that was a lot 😂 long story short it’s complicated but I do want to have a relationship with God and Paige and Azzi inspire me that you can have both.

Don’t apologize I understand! I think at least for me growing up with such extreme religious views it’s pushed me away from faith completely but I really do admire queer people who are able to have a healthy relationship with God!

I did not go to catholic school, but I am catholic. I did CCD, youth group at times, weekly mass and all that stuff. My parents are superrrrr religious. And I’m gay yay 🤗 so I kinda get it

I went to a catholic all girls school and theology was my worst class. I did not care one bit about what they had to say. I did get kicked out though for kissing a girl in the bathroom but oh well (said girl and I have our anniversary coming up 😙)

Had to confess to reading lesbian smut one time and then got suspended for two days over it! I’m glad you and your girlfriend worked out though!!! Happy almost anniversary!
