Dusk till Dawn ~A TMNT Poem~
As the daylight fades in orange and yellow
A figure appears, a curious fellow.
Whirling his nunchuck and twirling his legs,
He watches the people and silently begs
For a time that might come when he won’t give a fright
By walking amongst them when the sun is still bright.
With a heart as gold as the rays of the sun,
He leaps off with a smile to find some fun.
A new figure appears as the skies turn red,
He’s hungry for battle, and yet to be fed.
Crossing the roof with sai in his hand,
He looks over the city, surveying the land.
This is his home, and with fists clenched tight,
He swore to protect it, no matter the fight.
With a glint in his eye and a smile oh so smug,
He jumps to an alley to have words with a thug.
The heavens turn purple as stars appear,
And out walks a tall, bright engineer.
Twirling his bo in the late evening breeze,
He observes all around him and writes what he sees.
The people, the lights, the buildings, the brick,
New York City, his intellectual picnic.
But when one special red-head catches his eye,
He leaps off to watch her. Not talk… too shy.
Once the sun sets to a night dark and blue,
One more figure arrives to breathe fresh air too.
Slashing his swords with practice and skill,
He guards the surface, now almost too still.
But it’s not just the city that makes worry bud,
But also his brothers, his teammates, his blood.
An eye on his siblings, in the shadows he stays,
Keeping to his mission: protect them. Always.
But when the sun rises, the figures have fled,
Back to the sewers, to home, and to bed.
The city above roars with life and new light
Unaware of the dangers fended off in the night.
The heroes remain as they always have been
Silent protectors. Ninja. Unseen.
But their legacy stands a grand sight to see,
A world full of people, safe, guarded, and free.
