This compass was used by Lieutenant Nathaniel Haraden in the early 1800s while serving as the Sailing Master aboard USS Constitution. He was serving there during the 1804 battle with the Tripoli pirates in the Mediterranean.
According to seniority, Mr. Pearce, the master, is the next to be introduced to the reader; in external appearance, a rough, hard-headed north-countryman; but, with an unpromising exterior, he was a man of sense and feeling. He had every requisite for his situation: his nerves were like a chain-cable; he was correct and zealous in his duty; and a great favourite of the captain's, who was his countryman.

Is it alright if I request a list for a sailing master piratekin? They’re not from any specific source but I do remember being a native from an unnamed island in the Caribbean. I can’t have alcohol and don’t really like seafood, thanks in advance!
Heya anon yes of course! I did a list of tropical-inspired foods without all the seafood stuffs~
Jamaican Jerk Chicken
Jamaican Cabbage
Jerk Chicken Rice and Beans
Cuban Arroz Con Pollo
Cuban Ropa Vieja
Grilled Tropical Chicken Bowls
Tropical Island Chicken
Tropical Fruit Salad
Tropical Pineapple, Mango, and Coconut Fools
Tropical Chicken Nachos
There ya go anon! Hope you enjoy and if not feel free to come back and I’ll try to refill the request to the best of my ability! Cheers and happy eating~! <3

Dawn Bringer Crew - Kressara
Second in our wacky crew is Kressara, our Sailing Master (for those who don’t do boats, that means she’s in charge of the sails, essentially). She’s an air genasi barbarian, an orphan, and a hardcore badass! Her weapon of choice is usually a broadsword of some kind, but she’s extremely dangerous with anything in her hands. She has a bit of a temper when she’s in the thick of battle, but otherwise is cool, calm, and collected. She’s loyal to a fault, protective, and is always happy to join in on fun when certain other crew members start it (we’ll get to that later).
This face right here is her I’m-going-to-enjoy-smashing-you-into-a-thousand-pieces face.
That’s about all I know of her. She worked on the docks until something better came along, and now she’s with us. If I know more, you’ll know more.
