It amazes me how much better I can feel even after disappearing for a single day.
Exploring the high desert plains, summitting Trickle Mountain for sunset. Lunar landscapes littered with bones and antlers, taken for a dinner meal. Rocks placed with what seemed like such purpose. Perfectly balanced, they balance me.
Mornings in the mountains are always worth freezing for.
So much ceramics lately. I love it.
Today is the start of my first big production run.
Hoping to knock out 200 mugs during this 2 week house sit. Doable, right?
Lets throw some pots!
i miss you
“I made my first pot - a wretched little bowl with a pitted glaze - in November, 1962. This simple act changed my life, leading me to believe, 50 years later, that potters may change the world for the better, one handful at a time. My feeling is that we potters finish our work, but only others can complete it, through use. Pottery, therefore, is only finished once, but can be completed endlessly, by a succession of users, keeping it active in a variety of settings. When we say we are “moved” by a pot, it may be the animating force of its creator refusing to be still”.

Song gives me goosebumps always. This is what my dreams sound like.

Playing with the mr-750 venturi burner at sunset. Leaving my comfort zone of forced air burners.
Built this as part of a mentor-ship program with high school kids today. They are about as excited to fire it up as I am.
Recycled refractory raku kiln @ Crestone, Colorado's Clay Center.
Soft brick liner, hard brick shell, MR-750 Venturi Burner.
Interior specs are 1'8" square by 2' deep.
Waiting on fiber to come so we can finish the lid. Really excited to get some shit hot with gas again.
Grape Ape
That is all.
