Or, The One where we confirm that the epilogue was a big lie.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, as brilliant as unexpectedly discovering a hitherto unread story by Sara's girl.
There's a trophy room at Hogwarts that contains plaque and trophies and awards for all kinds of things, and yet we've never seen either Hermione or Harry actually receiving anything in all the six years they spent at the place.
That feeling of crushing disappointment when you've already checked tumblr thrice in the day and there is no fresh gay smut in sight.
My favourite part about Doctor Who are the scenes right before the regenerations…the reluctance of each of the faces to let go, bid adieu, the anxiety they feel about the next avatar, the piercing bittersweet pain…it is this part of the show that really gets me choked and yet yearning for more. I haven’t watched Classic Who, so I don’t know how it was done the last seven times but I love how Eccleston set the tone of these good byes. The show was shaped in his mould back then, and the two were in seamless harmony in his final scene as he tells Rose that she was fantastic and then in a signature move adds, “And so was I”! I love how the show has managed to retain that tone, that vein of light snark over the course of 10 years.

Wait, what?
My flower is ephemeral...and she has only four thorns to defend herself against the world. And I have left her on my planet, all alone
The little prince Antoine De Saint Exupery
I feel so deeply tormented after reading this post. I know it was supposed to be funny, but I wasn't laughing, I was actually making a mental note to do this the next time I'm in a position like this. That is the world women live in.
It's one of those nights when I can sing leave me breathless without thinking too much about it. 🌙
After having witnessed her mother’s boyfriend being shot four times for no reason at all, the four year old daughter tried to comfort her agitated mother–“It’s okay Mommy, I’m right here”.
Please don’t watch this video if you think you can be triggered by it. It is extremely graphic.
Also, why was Castile's girlfriend handcuffed when the backup arrived at the scene? She was a witness, yes, but since when do people get handcuffed for being a witness?
I have watched two very graphic videos in the last 48 hours of police officers killing black men. In neither of the videos do I see any attempt on the part of the officers to stop the bleeding/any application of pressure on the shot area/any indication of will to save the victim at all. All I heard were a lot of "fucks". Like their whole conscience condensed into that single word.
Today was infuriating.
I read about two more black men whose names were added to that tragically long list of black people shot by cops in America without provocation. They shut down Beyoncé, and Lebron James and Jesse Williams for being too political, not realising or pretending to not realise that it’s not an airy abstract philosophical concept, but a living fear of immediate death that plagues the lives of people of colour; that they are a part of the problem. They will continue to live in their bubbles pretending that the death of yet another man due to his race is actually just another exception.
I read about Oscar Pistorius, who after a long trial that grabbed headlines was sentenced to six years in jail for killing his girlfriend. Six years for a life because he was a celebrity, not because South Africa is always kind and humane towards it’s convicts. I have often come across arguments by MRAs where they argue that women get shorter jail sentences. I agree with them. Women do tend to get shorter jail sentences. But I would also like to bring up another related point that I have noticed over years of newspaper reports-crimes against women by men are likely to lead to shorter sentences. And I want people to fight for both of these issues.
I turned another page, and I came across another report, this time of a local man from New Delhi who was arrested for harassing 1500 women. Is it normal to find people who have harassed 1500 people? No. Is it normal to find people who have harassed two people? Yes. And that is the problem. So often is stalking, harassment and lewd language normalised in our society that we don’t even realise what toxic environment we have created for ourselves–not till a man harasses 1500 women and makes it to the headlines, and even then it is not the act of harassment that gets condemned but rather the statistic. Those numbers fail to capture the fear, irritation, hassle, anxiety caused to women who were trying to study/work/deal with illnesses/ mental disorders/ social expectations/death of a loved one: any number of situations. They fail to express what they lived through. They serve as just another figure in print: ineffectual, sometimes even a kind of perverted accomplishment because look at this man, he harassed the largest number of women a man has ever harassed.
