“That wasn’t the last of them...”
Dabi crouched with his back against the wall, gingerly holding his elbow close with a frustrated grimace. He hadn’t seen, felt, nor heard these strange creatures approaching. Must have warped in, he thought. He watched Toga work, ears peeled for the guttural hissing and squealing that had taken them so off guard before.
“What the fuck were those things?” he grumbled, as quietly as he could, “The looked like those… Nomus, but..”
Cutting himself off with a grunt, he pulled his jacket off and began tying it around his injured arm in a makeshift sling. They needed to get out of here in one piece, and he needed a free hand to be of any use. He’d already managed to burn Toga when he’d been attacked - they didn’t need any more injuries.
The hair on the back of his neck prickled as he picked up large footfalls nearby and he grabbed the girl in front of him, pulling her flush against the wall beside him. Where was it coming from?
A flash of steel comes plunging down.
Soft flesh parts and oozes (Himiko shivers) as she drives the blade deeper and deeper until she feels bone. She withdraws the knife quickly, before launching back into a rapid succession of stabbing,stabbing,stabbing,stabbing--
Thud
Himiko’s arm stops mid-air, the knife in her hand slowly dripping red on what was once a face--now mangled beyond recognition. The fluorescent lighting above dims and flickers ominously as in-coming footsteps reverberate from down the corridor.
Thud, Thud, Thud, Thud
Himiko grimaces as she feels Dabi’s hand grab her dangerously close to where she had been burned earlier. Her fingers reach out and quickly snatch the ID on the body as Dabi jerks her backwards and out of the light.
Two vaguely humanoid figures dressed in hospital gowns appear in the distance.
Himiko nudges Dabi, careful not to touch anywhere near his broken elbow. She raises a single finger to her lips before skulking away.
Thud, Thud, Thud, Thud
There was something mechanical in the way that they walked-- precise, in-sync, almost like clock-work.
Even the facial expressions were stiff.
Thud, Thud, Thud, Thud
Thud, Thud, Thud--
“ Hey, you two.” A tall man silently emerges from the shadow behind the two figures. “ It’s after curfew for you patients, you know that?” He fixes the ID badge on his white coat, straightening it before turning his attention back towards the two once again. “ Get back in your rooms before security comes and drags you back. “ He parts his white coat, revealing a small radio transceiver on his belt.
They stare vacantly at him.
“ Go on. Shoo. ”
