HINAMIKI WEEK 2025 DAY 3: REMNANTS/TRAGEDY ERA Before our two lovers found peace and healing on Jabberwock Island, they were… fucking freaks! /lovingly

HELLOOOO HINAMIKI/KAMUMIKI (?) NATION, I am Extremely late with this submission but I know it’s okay, I just Really wanted it to look super good bc I haven’t finished a proper piece in so fucking long LOL

I also wanted to go into depth a bit about the piece as to give more context to what’s happening in it:

In the art, the idea is that Mikan physically attacked Izuru first- for reasons unknown- and so Izuru moved to restrain her. In doing so, he unfortunately used too much force and she hit her head against the wall, hence the nosebleed. But because she’s a freak, she ended up liking it! The scalpel is an attempt at not only a second attack, but also kind of flirting 😭

I Really really enjoy the idea of Despair!Mikan being jealous of Izuru. Junko absolutely loves and adores the man, to her he’s the pinnacle of Despair, and so it makes perfect sense to me that Mikan would absolutely Hate that! But then also, in a sick and twisted way, Mikan comes to be obsessed with Izuru through Junko’s eyes because the love of my love should be My love too, right? There’s a reason Junko was so obsessed herself with Izuru, so Mikan wants to try seeing what it is exactly so she can feel a bit closer to Junko post her death. Unfortunately, this just annoys the hell out of Izuru.

Honestly, I plan on writing a fic that expands greatly on this idea but it’s gonna be explicit as hell so 💀 only keep an eye out if you’re an adult

I also wanted to discuss my remnant design for Mikan, as I figure it might be a little point of contention. I think it’s absolutely disgusting the way Kodaka handled her character and made her nothing but “sexy crazy nurse” fanservice, Especially considering her past traumas. That being said, it’s still important to me that Despair!Mikan is overly sexualized, because in my mind, Junko is the one who inspired her to use her sexuality as a weapon. After all the abuse she’s suffered from, this is Mikan reclaiming her bodily autonomy- even if it’s a bit overboard 😅- and in the same vein, I feel that Me creating this design is Also reclaiming what was originally created by Kodaka with repulsive intent. I see myself heavily in Mikan, so it’s important to me to draw her feeling confident in herself and her sexuality because it’s something I also wish for myself! I hope that makes sense 😭 it’s feminist when I do it okay !!! /joke
