What if there were women’s cleanliness products that were marketed the way Old Spice stuff is? Like they had names like “Lioness” and “Sycamore” and “Wildfire” and “Hunter’s Moon” and they were touted as making you smell like a warrior queen who does not suffer fools and conquers all she beholds
HELLO LADIES
have you felt the primal call of the unmerciful sea calling you to strike down those who would defy you? no? well if you stopped using overpriced flower-scented body wash and switched to SEA HAG, you might.
look down.
back up. where are you? you’re a siren, bare-breasted and shrieking as you lure the unwary to their doom on the rocks below. and you smell amazing.
what’s in your hand? back at me. it’s a vial of skin-nourishing ingredients, derived from the seaweed you used to strangle a hated foe. it does wonders for your skin tone and resilience, and we all can agree that we will need that resilience in the coming war.
look again: the seaweed is now a formal apology from the last man who unnecessarily tried to explain something to you.
anything is possible when you smell like a vengeful sea witch and embrace your own rage. i’m on a narwhal.
Fucking sign me up, I’m a sea hag and proud
New York City Christmas Walk 🎄
Few things rival the magic of Christmas in New York.
The hustle-and-bustle of the streets, the Christmas tree pickup spots around each corner, the long lineups of people at USPS waiting to mail Christmas cards (I was one of them three times!), tourists walking hand in hand on a romantic getaway, the ordinary tree you’ve walked by 100 times that now sparkles all through the night, the Christmas trees peeking through apartment windows, and wreaths hanging on all the doors. Magical.
So magical, in fact, that I was determined to squeeze every last drop of my limited time in New York before I head back to Canada-land for the Holidays, and go on an adventure to see it all. I Google “Christmas Walks in NY,” but nothing really came up, so I created my own and emailed some friends:
——————————————————————————–
——————————————————————————–
They quickly replied back that they were absolutely down to do the walk under the condition we changed Starbucks to “adult beverages,” which is what we did!
Here’s the link to my map should you find yourself in New York City around Christmas time, and would also like to do the walk. If you click on the red or green location markers, I added my tips for each location.
Also, do note:
The Rockefeller’s tree’s lights urn off at midnight sharp
The SAK’s Fifth Avenue light show run from 4:35pm to 11:35pm, every 10 minutes
Bryant Park closes at 9pm
The Plaza is indeed extremely expensive ($25/glass of wine), but it’s truly so worth it for the experience.
We started at a bar near Columbus Circle at 8pm, but I wish we had started at 7ish (to enjoy our drinks a bit longer at the Plaza hotel)
But… the later you start the less crows there’ll be. We caught the last SAK’s Light show, and had 20 minutes with Rockefellow Tree lit up (we bought *terrible* mulled wine at the Christmas igloo bar next to it. I really recommend trying to avoid the crowds, it made it so manageable.
The timing of the walk completely depends on your speed and how long you admire/stay at the stops. I’d suggest at least 1.5 hours with no sitting/bar/drink stops. Or 4 hours with bar stops.
Also, to shorten it, you could walk from A to H (as Union and Madison Square Parks are fairly far).
If you do do it, please report back! And with that, here are my favourite Christmas photos from the walk.
COLUMBUS CIRCLE
THE PLAZA
It’s not formally on the list, but simply walk down 5th Avenue is pretty awesome too
BERGDORF’S WINDOWS (which I thought were disappointing)
SAK’S LIGHT SHOW
ROCKEFELLER TREE
Below is where we sat and had overpriced *terrible* mulled wine
RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL
BRYANT PARK
Bryant Park was closed, but we hopped over the fence (it was easier than that makes it sound) and had it all to ourselves!
GRAND CENTRAL
For the last two stops my phone died, but by this point it was 1:30am and I was ready to snooze anyways. But overall, what a fun memorable night which I’m sure will be an annual event!

i figured i would never be 100% content with this masterpost because i keep finding new things i want to add, so i’m just going to post it now and update it every now and then! bonne chance!! :)

So there’s this huge dudebro in my class, who, yesterday, sat next to me. And I’m sitting there sweating because like… I’m wearing my shirt with the lesbian flag on it, and he’s the most popular jock in school, and always has this look on his face that say ‘I can and will kill you’. He looks me up and down, stares at me for a minute and then goes, “So. Girls in skirts and long socks, am I right?”
To which I nodded solemnly, both out of agreement, surprise and also a healthy amount of awkward fear. He nodded and went, “You get it.”
I said, “Yep.” He fistbumped me, and on went our lives.
Oh! I forgot to mention! I saw him at lunch the same day, and he ran up to me, tapped me on the shoulder, pointed at this super sweet girl who comes to GSA and asked if she’s gay. I told him he should ask her because that’s not my place and he said he would.
I thought that would be the end of it.
Except ten minutes later he came back and told me he found out (she’s bi) and that both of us have a shot. I said “You more than me.” because he’s attractive and popular.
But this wholesome dumbass looked really confused and asked, “Because I’m tall?’
So this isn’t lesbian/jock solidarity but I thought you guys would want to know-
My math teacher was trying to fix the rolling whiteboard and he just offhand said “This would be easier with a wrench”
And deadass, dudebro said “Hang on” and then proceeded to pull a fucking wrench out of his backpack
Update- after school today he saw me in the library and he didn’t say anything? He just pointed at the book he was holding and I gave him a thumbs up because it’s a pretty good book, and he went “Yes!” Really quiet and pumped his fist and then left
Okay so today he asked me if I know how to help people having a panic attack and I was like yeah? And he smiled at me and then went “cool I think I’m having one”
And I was like what the fuck Colin we’re in the middle of Tech class sit down and we went out in the hall and sat there for a while and he told me about the test he’s stressed about so we kind of went over his study guide and when he was feeling better he kind of like… smacked his head against mine gently? And I helped him up even though he’s almost a foot taller than me and yeah
Today at lunch we walked to the football field and laid in the grass and I told him thank you for being my friend (because I don’t have that many) and fistbumped me and said, “You always looked so nice and chill, how could I not want to be your friend?”
And honestly y’all, I would’ve started crying if he hadn’t sneezed and accidentally smacked me

So the good news is that he's home safe and sound, the bad news is that it was very expensive and I did not have that kind of money especially after just paying bills so I had to sign up for a card to pay it 😅
Most of you are aware but for those of you that don't my dog Leo and I were walking around Tuesday night and he got bit by a venomous snake so I had to rush into an emergency vet and I just brought him home a (today) few days later and he seems like he's doing okay which is the most important part, it just sucks that it cost as much as it did.
(and yes it does say like us on Facebook at the end of the bill, that's branding 🙄😂)
That said I'm going to be doing a couple things!
1. I got a bunch of these original zombie baby plush scarves to give away and for every $150 total that we raise I'll ship one out and I'll pick from anyone who retweets this (but it's definitely not a giveaway because giveaway laws are complicated 👀👀) I'm planning to ship them out around late September and as a thanks to people already sending some money without me even mentioning it I already have one that I'll give away in this. I have a bunch of these to give away too 😅 ...like a full box
2. I will also be doing voice commissions! If you wanted some cheap voice over I'm doing $2 a line! You've ever wanted someone to voice a comic or something that you were doing but couldn't really afford it, now's the time! Hit me up and we can discuss before I record or you submit! (Preferably no Nsfw)
If you want to know my voices, here you go!
3. If you want to just donate that's great! Please don't feel obligated in any way to do so but every little bit helps.
I've got a couple months to try and pay it off before interest really hits but I I'm going to try and do as much as I can to start.
I'm still going to be posting like normal, I'm still going to be keeping up the positivity stuff. I'm very thankful that im the end he's okay and it sucks that it cost me as much as it did but at least I had an ability to pay it at all. I'm really thankful for that. I was very much reminded how this dog has saved me I mean that both in the metaphorical and physical sense.
I'm also realizing I should actually include my PayPal email address
Now that Tumblr no longer treating it like adult content 😅😅
Also that was fast ❤️ $312 raised

push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise.
push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable.
get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else.
stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything.
buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice.
buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small.
strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash. make your bed in full.
organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle.
have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck.
push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dog’s behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog.
message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you don’t follow through. push yourself to follow through.
think long and hard about what interests you. crime? sex? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything.
become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends.
lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t a thing. open your eyes. take small steps to make it happen for you.
This is all really good advice for dealing with long term depression and anxiety. It’s not gonna magically cure you, but I’ve pushed myself to incorporate a few of these things into my day to day routine and it helps
“Get out and run. Do not worry about the rest. Make running a lifestyle. A daily habit, like brushing your teeth. If you run 300+ days a year, every year, for several years, good things will come your way. Start now. Doesn’t matter if you are 16 years old or 66. If you want to be a decent runner you must get out and run; the rest is just noise. Get the running in first— that is the foundation. Then: Eat mostly good stuff. Get enough sleep. Stretch if you want to— or don’t. Lift if you like lifting. Cross-train if it makes you happy. Wear minimalist shoes or big bulky ones, whichever you prefer. Listen to music when you run, or not. You can carry water with you on a long run, or you can go without. If you want to do a core routine, then do it— but first you must get out and run. Run on trails, or streets, or on a treadmill, whatever works for you. Run slowly. Run quickly. Run up hills. Run in the rain. Run in the snow, the heat, the cold. Run into the wind. Run on the days that you do not feel like running. Run on the days that you can’t wait to get out and run. Run with friends. Run alone. Run races. Run in the country. Run in the city. Run in parks. Run when you feel happy. Run when you are depressed. Run when you have a ton of energy. Run when you are feeling like shit. Run when you feel good. Run in the morning. Run at night. Run before work. Run after work. Run.”

When someone says these days sexism and misogyny don’t exist anymore show them this.
In the movie Shazam! (2019) We can see that the movie bares a striking resemblance to the movie Pet Cemetery (2019). This is a subtle nod to the fact that I entered the wrong theater.
The first time Jessica Calise can remember her 9-year-old son Joseph’s anxiety spiking was about a year ago, when he had to perform at a school concert. He said his stomach hurt and he might throw up. “We spent the whole performance in the bathroom,” she recalls.
After that, Joseph struggled whenever he had to do something alone, like showering or sleeping in his bedroom. He would beg his parents to sit outside the bathroom door or let him sleep in their bed. “It’s heartbreaking to see your child so upset and feel like he’s going to throw up because he’s nervous about something that, in my mind, is no big deal,” Jessica says.
Jessica decided to enroll in an experimental program, one that was very different from other therapy for childhood anxiety that she knew about. It wasn’t Joseph who would be seeing a therapist every week — it would be her.
The program was part of a Yale University study that treated children’s anxiety by teaching their parents new ways of responding to it.
“The parent’s own responses are a core and integral part of childhood anxiety,” says Eli Lebowitz, a psychologist at the Yale School of Medicine who developed the training.
