Hello beautiful people

So the other day i went shopping with my girls and i came across this piece of clothing i really liked but it wasn’t in the shades i wanted so i was kinda let down and other areas didn’t have it so i tried creating a version of  the dress i saw at least to my comfort. not that i have body image issues but i recently put on alot of weight so i tyr to avoid so much exposure of skin but still wearing what i like. Anyway lets get busy so this is stretchy fabric and its white and has pink prints on it im just trying to point out at the time of taking pictures i had lighting issues so some may appear white, Okay enough talk lets get to work

YOU NEED

fabric

scissors

sewing machine

patterns or a body con skirt

measuring tape

fabric marker or chalk

some pins

HOW TO

okay so i tried my best to try to explain the measurements you need to get

for the tube top you need to take

* Around the top bust and under bust

* The distance from the top bust to the under bust

*The waist and low hips

*Desired length ( i choose below my knee)

Or if all of this is complicated use a tube bra and a body con skirt as pattern if you dont have any patterns

FOR THE TUBE TOP

trace out the measurements or lay down the pattern and cut

sew down the two sides and hem the top and bottom (use a zigzag stitch to maintain the stretch)

feed in the elastic at the top for extra security, I’m busty so that’s why actually but if you aren’t then you can do as you please

Ooops! i lost the other pictures but you just follow the instructions and dont forget to  serge to give it a clean and finished look

FOR THE SKIRT

Its pretty much the same thing, cut out measurements or trace out a pattern

sew down the sides, hem the top and bottom leaving out 1 inch allowance at the top hem for the elastic

feed in the elastic and close the opening. Don’t forget to always use a zigzag stitch for stretchy fabric to maintain the stretch

Again i lost the other pictures!

FOR THE CHOKER

cut out a long piece of fabric 3 inches wide

fold let the right sides face each other and sew

turn to the right side sew the button at one end and at the other end create a small hole

*optional but i sewed small stitches to my buttonhole to make it neat

so there we go !!

excuse the weird lines they where already in storage, my favorite part i  get to model

Hey beautiful people

Lately i’ve just had unidentified mood crisis like my brain and heart refuse to sync, anyway at least i  had this tutorial prepared before the crisis. at some point in my life loved men shirts and for reasons unknown my legs carried me to the shop and i got them its stupid because i’ve never even worn it i just had images of me slaying in them in my head (lol) and also when the Chris Brown loyal video set a new trend of either wearing flannel shirts (check)  or tie around your waist i also got new shirts which i haven’t worn as well. Any way with  all this pile of shirts i decided to find other things to do with them after donating some so this is the first in my series of shirt make overs and this brings us to our DIY today

YOU NEED

an old shirt

some elastic

a safety pin

some pins

a pair of scissors

ooops sorry i lost this image 😦

HOW TO

1.  lay down the shirt flat and remove the pockets and cut out the shoulder

2. Turn inside out and pin using one inch allowance. To make this neat try folding  before you pin

*Hem down the area you pinned

3. Feed the elastic using a safety pin, wrap the elastic round your shoulders to get the width

4. So its pretty much the same process  for the hand i didn’t want to leave it like that so i cut it up and hemmed it and also for the bottom i was unsure if i wanted it flared or not so i cut it up and using the process above i made an elastic band

Hey beautiful people Welcome again to my blog and hope y’all have fun and create funk! Its summer (well not in my area tho it rains heavily) okay so for you out there enjoying the summer weather today we will be creating a flared strapless top (circle version)  from Ankara fabric and it should be simple enough to make

  YOU NEED

A yard of fabric A pair of scissors Some thread An iron Elastic closest to the color of d fabric Safety pin

HOW TO 1. Fold the fabric in question into four equal parts and lay flat 2. Trace out a line from the top to the side(A) 3.  Measure  the length and start marking from the end of the fabric to meet the line you just made and mark point (B)

3. Trace out a small curve to meet the lines at the top and label (C)

4. Mark along the areas and cut out using the pattern drafted as above

5. Measure the elastic around your upper bust and cut where it feels comfortable 6. Using 1 inch hem allowance sew down the top and leave out space for the elastic to pass through and using ½inch measurements hem the bottom all round

7.Using a safety pin pass through the space at the top and sew down. Voila!!

    For the choker; 1. Cut out about three inches or more for width and measure around your neck for length 2. Fold it down and iron to make it flat its up to you to sew down or use glue to sew down the sides 3. Sew down the hooks and eyes in opposite directions as seen here DIY Chokers

And we are done for today’s DIY feel free to dress up in various styles but i preferred simple jeans

Today is a walk down memory lane for me, so as a kid I owned some really stretchy t-shirts and I loved them so much mine was usually the tie-dyed version so while thrifting I came across a stretchy t-shirt ma inner child was so excited I literally relived the happy, carefree and innocent  childhood days. I did not want to alter much off the original design of the dress because it sort of comforted me but yet I did not want to also wear it plain so I decided to do a simple lace up top tutorial to glam it up without changing much of its form. The weather here wont let me be great, its been rainy and cold but it ddnt stop me from working. On to our DIY today

Things you will need

tshirt of choice

matching ribbons

scissors

fabric marker

some safety pins

needle and thread

and finally some string

Get your pieces together lay the t-shirt flat and mark the length of  how long you want the lace up to be and cut up the area

Mark out the positions you want the lace to pass through and then cut out the ribbon into small pieces at least two inches each

Sew the ribbons to the t-shirt with a needle and thread by simple stitches along the marked edges

Get the lace, string or ribbons to lace up the t-shirt, use a safety pin to effortlessly pull the lace through the loops. I used ribbon with some gold detail on it

    And there’s our final look 🙂

Ever saw a pillowcase so pretty that it felt wrong and bad to just cover up your pillows and leave on your bed? well it happened to me. I went out thrifting the other day and I came across this gorgeous pillowcase it was so pretty and bold the patterns and colors were amazing that my thrifting senses did this little happy dance after some bargaining I got it and went on my merry way thrifting, I returned home a bag full and happy.I figured I will make a  basic t-shirt from it mind you I have never used patterns to sew so I decided to challenge myself and surprisingly it turned out so pretty. Initially my head I’m thinking cut edges attach sleeves sew unfortunately that didn’t work for me so well my machine had a mind on its own and decided to act up so in the end it took a longer time than I had expected on the bright side I understood pattern better. Little confession this is the first thing I’ve ever sewed besides mending clothes and my Barbie’s clothes when I was little. Enough with the chatter and lets get busy

Things you will need

a pillowcase

some fabric(I used some kind of mesh fabric)

A sewing machine or sewing kit

a pair of scissors

fabric marker or some chalk

some pins

partterns

measuring tape

set up your workspace and assemble your material

lay the pillowcase flat and cut off the top and bottom

the tricky part is  to cut the mesh material. so I measure the tape on my body to the length of how long I want the material to be. lets say I use 7inches I mark that on my pattern( excuse my rachetness I had to use newspapers hadn’t bought pattern paper yet 😉 )

  I did same for the back and pinned. I hand stitched the pinned area and set aside. I later placed the cut part, it gets a bit tricky here the total length of the t-shirt minus the length I used for the mesh fabric for example my total length is 26-7=19 I measure on the pillowcase at the to from 7 to 19, I mark the area and cut following the pattern

I stich around the area firmly. I attach the two pieces together I pin for it to stay in place while I sew I’m actually just heming slog th pins

For the sleeves I cut out 4 inches for width and I just cut it as long as it could be and pinned down inside out  around the arm hole and sewed when you reach the end just cut off the remains and close up the t-shirt . When you stitch it should be shorter and firmer to avoid it opening up

the mesh fabric I used was a bit stretchy soo I stretched it out at the neckline an pinned the center and hemmed along the line

I ironed the whole t-shirt along the lines to emphasize on the stitches and it came out great, more than what I had in mind

I realized that it was big when I tired it on I was already impatient to do  the big reveal so I wore like that and headed out to get a couple of drinks with friends

Hello there,

Today I was cleaning out the things I haven’t used for a while(its discomforting to say I’m a hoarder but yes I am) in a good way though I’m big on gifts and things like that moving on you do not want me started on my chronicles of gift hoarding as I call it but anyway story for another day, so back to sorting out things I pull out this bag which was given to me by a friend before she changed towns, as I said earlier I’m big on gifts so definitely I held on to the bag and I really loved it but as you know cold areas really have a way of dealing with our bags and that is exactly how my bag died :-( ,it had scratches and cracked I tried fixing with paint but it lasted only for a short while until I finally kept it aside and it skipped my mind only till about today when I found it in a pretty bad shape but I was determined to keep it which brings us to our DIY of today giving a total makeover :-) 

Things you will need;

scissors, I  used three different sizes big, medium and small

some thread and needle, I got denim thread

a pair of old jeans

a sponge

a foot scrub or a nail file

pile of newspapers

a paint brush

some fabric glue

and finally the bag we want to make over.

First we create our workspace and cover with newspapers to avoid glue destroying our property

Place the bag on the work surface and smoothen the edges using a foot scrub or nail file

Place the old pair of jeans and cut out the legs carefully pace the bag on it and outline leave out some extra inches to be able to fold it do this for all sides and cut out

At this point you cut out the extra fabric to cover up the hands or you could just get a new handle but I decided to stay original and stick to the handles and cover up

 The fun part Yayy!!!! lather up glue to the bad using a brush, carefully outline the denim on the bag and smoothen the edges with your hands. At this point u need to exercise patience it took some time for my glue to get dry do this for all sides one at a time

After finishing with the bag I did the hands this was a little bit tricky I experienced a lot of difficulties here first of all I had to glue the front and back separately and cut of the extra my denim started fraying at the edges I tried to fix it by sewing the edges but after no progress I decided frayed edges will be  more fun  and also I had to come up with a new strap because the original strap became really small

So to finish of I used a blade and really small scissors to cut out the are for the zip and also one of the hands were attached to a buckle which I didn’t want to hide and my bag is done!

At the end of this DIY I decided to throw in a couple of bag accessories to alter the look of the bag I went with edgy and floral vibes

And this pretty much sums my DIY and revamping for today cant wait to head out and show off my bag,
