My favouritest sport fact ever is that in 1990s 2 cardiac surgeons watched an f1 race to save the lives of countless kids. The Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) kept losing the lives of patients after successful heart surgeries. Specifically the 10-15 minutes after a bonefide clinically successful surgery patients would die:
And so the two surgeons filmed a handover after heart surgery and sent it to the Ferrari pitcrew who were told to critique and improve handover process
And from this:
we got this:
The error rate during patien handovers dropped from 30% to 10% with the F1 informed protocol.
I literally love this fact so much because being an pitcrew member is such a thankless job because theyre underpaid and overworked mechanics and they literally saved lives in this instance.
Doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital turned to Formula 1 for answers. By studying Ferrari’s pit-stop teamwork, they redesigned how patien
I love this!
And it that it wasn't a one and done.
The doctors went to the race tracks to watch the car changes and the pit crews went to the hospitals and watched a live transfer and offered suggestions and they kept working with them to improve.
After there was a successful improvement of the most vital metrics of a handover of a patient from surgery to ICU, the pit crews also worked with other hospitals for other procedures and it's now a whole thing of trying to apply the specialized, streamlined and speedy teamwork and nonverbal coordination of pit crews to other high-risk fields.
This is a perfect example of how two very different fields of knowledge meeting can make a huge leap forward in progress.
remember those who could not make it to today. honor their memory. live for them.
this year, more than ever. remember those who have perished. live for them. live for yourself. existence is resistance
Happy 9th Chapter Zero!
Just noticed when i was putting together some Stream Pile videos that this is chronos453's Chapter Zero's 9th birthday!
One of my favourite community creations, and one of the few Adventure Maps i payed that really justified their inclusion in LBP3. Managing to tell the story of building oneself up, and taking a step out into the wider world, through both dialogue (or, well, monologue i guess) _and_ gameplay. CZ struck me special way back when i reviewed it the first time in The Before, but took on extra, personal depth after figuring my shite out. It being made by someone who has come, over time, to be a dear friend, and someone i respect as an artist. It's all just real cool.
Also, i guess if the Adventure Map saves are unplayable, it's kinda maybe lost media now?
Anyhoot, my second look at it, post coming out, and the LBsA videos as well. Maybe (the review in particular) some of my own best work as a... whatever the heck it is i am.
Thanks chronos! And Happy birthday CZ!

I quite enjoy chewing food with my human TEETH, so if you've enjoyed anything I've worked on, please consider tipping!
Due to my father's recent passing, I'm unfortunately in the position where I need to begin plugging my Ko-fi more often than I'd otherwise like to.
If I've worked on anything you've enjoyed in the past, I would greatly appreciate any support.

I’m a single father trying to move my daughter and myself from… Josh Allen needs your support for Help Us Find Home Again: A Father and Daug
Without noradninja's resolution scaler, it would have been impossible for me to port Gone Home to the PS Vita. He is a generous contributor to the PS Vita homebrew scene, but he needs help, and soon.
A combination of severe physical disability, economic collapse and the volatile state of the US has left him and his daughter in a dire situation. All it would take is a single misfortune to render them outright homeless.
Even if he wasn't a contributor to Vita homebrew, one that has personally assisted me, no less; no one should have to contend with the threat of homelessness hanging over their heads. The two of them have suffered more than enough already.
He's set a relatively modest goal of $15,000 to move to California, where his extended family have offered a safer environment to rebuild in. I know money is tight for everyone at the moment, but if you can spare even $5, you can make a difference. If you are unable to donate for whatever reason, please copy the link and spread it whereever you can.
Thank you for reading.
