if you know my writing at all then you know sick ford is my fuckin jam so obviously i had to write smtn
also, because of subject matter i want to put this first- pls donāt tag as stancest, as it was not written in any way to be ship work.
anyways hereās cuddlebug slopdrabble (but i sort of went the direction of ford sending a vague ass letter because heās embarrased LMAOOO)
āFord?ā Stan knocks harder. āFord, open the goddamn door.ā
Christ. Fuckinā figures. Fordās the one who sent him that cryptic ass note, asking him to come here, no indication of what the hell he needs help with, and now, he wonāt even open the door.
āFord, you donāt open the door in ten seconds, Iām goinā!ā
An empty threat, and he knows it. He just hopes that Ford doesnāt know it. Ford, who asked him to come here after ten years of absolutely no contact.
Itās stupid to hope that itās simply because he misses his brother. That he wants to⦠make amends, maybe? Stupid. Stan knows better than that. He doesnāt hope. He doesnāt.
āFord, you asked me to come!!ā
Heās interrupted by a thud sound, along with the sound of plastic hitting wood.
āFord?! Everythinā okay?ā
The words on the postcard come back to Stanā please come!
He rams his shoulder at the door. It wobbles. He rams his shoulder again. Again, again, again, and his heart is fucking pounding, and heās not worried, he isnāt, he shouldnāt even care at allā
The door breaks off the hinges.
Ford is on the ground. Heās slightly curled up, a blanket and plastic bowl nearby on the ground. His face is upturned, one arm stretched out, almost like heās searching, crawling forward.
āHey, woah, Ford, youā you okay?ā
Ford coughs and twitches. āStanā Stanleyā¦ā He coughs again.
āShit.ā Stan kneels down beside him. āWhatās goinā on? Are you sick?ā
A weak, pitiful nod. Any anger Stan held against his brother fades away, surely to be felt some other day. For now, heās just fucking terrified. The pieces immediately fit together in his brainā please come!
āWhat happened? What can I do?ā God, it must be bad if Ford called him. It must be really, really badā something terminal, maybe? No, no, no, that canātā noā āFord, say somethinā.ā
āStan,ā Ford mutters, hoarse. āYou came.ā
āYeah, yeah, itās me. I came. How can I help?ā
āNeedāā Another nasty cough. āSickāā
āI can see that. We should get you to a hospital, whyā why didnāt youāā
āDonā need hospital, n-now that youāre hereāā
Suddenly, with strength Stan couldāve in no way assumed Ford had at the moment, Ford lunges at Stan and sends them both tumbling to the ground. He gasps as his brother, his older brother, buries his head into Stanās chest and wraps his arms tightly around Stanās waist. Stan is shocked and frozen for a moment, afraid to move, afraid to speak, to breathe, to do anything.
Of all the ways he expected to go, all the scenarios he played out in his mind, this was never, ever one of them.
Ford must be really, badly sick.
āFord, we need to get you to a hospital.ā
āNoāā Ford coughs. āNo, can explaināā
āNo, listen, youāre sick.ā He starts to pull away. āYou needāā
āNO!ā Ford clings on tighter, like a damn koala. āI can explain. I-I will, but justā you have to stay. Please.ā
He sounds so desperate that Stan canāt move. He ruined his brotherās life, how could he ever deny Fordās first request in ten years?
āOkay, I-I will, butāā
āI will explain,ā Ford says, hoarse, but suddenly sounding a bit more lucid, āP-Promise.ā He sniffles loudly. āDonāt move. Donātā donāt move.ā
āI wonāt,ā Stan breathes. āI wonāt.ā
Slowly, he scoops Ford up and pulls him in closer, keeping his arms securely around him, like he might fall apart at any moment. Ford hums softly and shivers.
āGood.ā Another sniffle. Stan is pretty sure his nose is running onto Stanās shirt, but he canāt really be bothered to care. āSā helping.ā
āOkay⦠thatāsā thatās good, I guess.ā Stan clears his throat. āWanna⦠wanna tell me whatās goinā on?ā
Sniffle. āStudyingā studying anomalies. I found out aboutā this sickness.ā
āWait, wait, youāre tellinā me you got some fuckinā⦠science fiction disease?ā
āKind of. Mutated oxycontin is released into your body.ā
āSā a hormone. Makes you want physical closeness. But this kind isnāt meant for humans.ā He yawns. āMakes you sick. You can recover if you satiate the oxycontin.ā
āIām gonna need you to put this in simpler terms,ā Stan deadpans.
Ford makes a frustrated noise, as if itās so obvious. āI donāt know how much clearer I can make this.ā
āJesus. Typical,ā Stan mutters.
āWhatās that supposed to mean?ā
āOh, you know, just nice to see you havenāt changed. Still an arrogantāā
āThatās notāā Ford growls. āYouāre the one who wreckedāā
āIf youāre just gonna throw shit in my face, Iām leavinā.ā He starts to get up, slightly afraid of what might happen if they go down this road. He knows, ultimately, the blame is his to take. It just feels a little bit like admitting defeat to pick it up. āNice to see youāā
āNOā!ā Ford scrambles after him and clings on tighter, at this point curled up in Stanās lap, and coughs harshly. He chokes on the air for a few moments as Stan rubs his back.
Then Ford looks up at him.
āPlease stay. I-I needāā he inhales deeply. āI need you here right now.ā
Stan canāt speak, at that.
āTo satiate the oxycontin, and ultimatelyā er, use it up, essentiallyā Ford mutters, āyou have to give it what it wants.ā
āSo⦠to fix you upā¦?ā
āPhysical closeness,ā Ford says, sounding ashamed. āA-And I didnāt⦠I didnāt know who else I couldāveāā
Stan bursts out laughing. āFordā y-youāre kiddinā!ā
āIām not.ā Ford sniffles. āAnd, actually, itās rather serious.ā
āCuz you let it be,ā Stan fires back, still wheezing out laughter. āCuz you were tooā too embarrassed to ask someone toāā
āCUDDLE!ā Stan cuts himself off with laughter, but he doesnāt dare hold his twin any more loosely.
Jesus. A fucking⦠cuddle bug.
This just might be the funniest thing in the world.
Obviously, yeah, he wants Ford to get better, and heāll do everything he can to make sure he does.
āStanley, itās not funny,ā Ford pouts.
āYeah, yeah, sure.ā Stan wipes a tear from his eyes then wraps his arm back around Ford. āWhatever you say.ā
Ford huffs, then sniffles.
Stan feels a very small, but still amused, spike of pity. āFeelinā any better yet?ā
āMhm⦠less dizzy. Room isnāt spinning. Nā I havenāt thrown up yet.ā
āYou throw up on me, I drop you.ā Stan presses his hand against his twinās forehead. āShit, youāre burninā up.ā
āFeelinā like you can maybe stand? Might help if we go to the couch or somethinā. Better on the old back.ā
Ford nods, exhaustion seeming to overcome him all at once. Still, he does his best to make the task of getting him to his feet as easy as possible. He leans heavily against Stan once theyāre standing.
Stan clears off the couchā it was covered in books and clothes, how does Ford live like this?ā then eases Ford down and crawls up next to him. Ford grumbles but clings on again, curled up against his side with both arms securely around Stanās stomach, and his head nuzzled into Stanās chest.
Stan canāt think about it too much. He might freak out.
He canāt help but wonder how long itāll last. He also wonders, a little bit, if Ford is just fucking high or tripping or otherwise incapacitated in some way. That might make more sense than a weird space disease.
But, he supposes, what about Ford has ever made sense?
āI don'tā¦ā he shakes his head. āItās good to see you. I mean it. Iā you know.ā
As Ford drifts into unconsciousness, Stan answers him, voice choked.
āYeah. Missed you too.ā
Stan just hopes this shit isnāt contagious.
