I’m never going to get over the final scene with the gate of truth. How when asked to play god, the correct answer is giving up your ability to play god.

It even cycles back to Ed’s dialogue in chapter one, with the story of Icarus, because in that metaphor Ed is Daedalus. And just as Daedalus hung his wings in Apollo’s temple, never to be used again, Ed surrendered his alchemy with full knowledge of he’d done, and what came about from his mistakes.

So many people fuck up the story of Icarus when they use it thematically but Arakawa gets it so right.

The thing that the people who get mad about Nienna defending Melkor and other bad people don't understand is that, being the Lady of Mercy, she is quite literally the public defender archangel. She was created and designed to be able to have empathy for literally everyone in existence, so that no one is ever alone without anyone to speak for them.

And for those who get mad at public defenders and defense attorneys I will also point out that it's absolutely vital for having a state under the rule of law that respects human rights and is not run on the whims and good (or ill) will of those in power that even the worst person imaginable has someone defending them in court.

Similarly, it is vital that someone like Nienna exists. You can probably see now why her close connection to Námo is not a coincidence - he needs her. And why she is counted among the Aratar.

They’re very likely not related but I can’t help think how funny it would be if they were brothers and Aizen just turned for the worst.

Even though they look alike, Aizen looks so evil compared to Kajomaru.

#my personal fantheory for fun is that they're half-brothers #both bastards of Kyoraku's #he goes to the red light district a lot and is good a picking up women for fun out and about #accidents and “accidents” happen from time to time #they're not unique or special #there are dozens of them and none of them know each other #because Kyoraku is just throwing money at the problem and dipping if he finds out about the kid at all #his commitment issues and family issues are sogyoku-sized #he doesn't even want to be as prominent in the noble Kyoraku family as he is since his brother died #and he does not want to go through the hassle of having an official heir bumping him higher in the heirarchy #also he cannot see himself as dad material and RUNS and ignores the situation away every time #Kyoraku can only care deeply about so many people and his brother his sister in law and Nanao have way too much of it #he doesn't wish them ill and he DOES throw money at the ones he knows about so they don't live bad lives but he doesn't think about them #Aizen and Kajomaru either don't know or are among the rare few that DO know who their father is and just don't care #aside from their looks their apathy for their sperm donor is their only similarity #a bit of a lack of interest and commitment to family they inherited from Kyoraku #the three of them in a room Maury style:#“YOU ARE THE FATHER”#gets a net zero reaction from all three of them #at most: “oh. and?”

groove billed anis are a hilarious cuckoo situation where they ended up laying their eggs in one another’s nests instead of anyone else’s. they hang out together in groups of up to five pairs until a nest gets built (sometimes by committee, sometimes they just hang around hopefully until someone does it all on their own) then they start sneaking over and laying an egg in at a time. the females who lay for the first time will sometimes flip prior eggs out of the nest like ‘oh i KNOW this one isn’t mine! away it goes’ but eventually everyone’s laid a couple eggs in there and is stuck with the mutual hostage situation. then they take turns incubating until all the kids hatch and everyone pitches in on feeding them, because no one knows which of the kids are theirs so they all might as well.

they also like to do a team handshake where they clump up and mutually make a low bubbling noise together, to signal group affiliation. go team!

Also their eggs are incredibly beautiful. They’re a very pretty blue color, but covered by a white chalky outer layer that is easily scratched off, so they end up in various stages of in-between.

This is how I learned to do it and a good example of what you want to see in a short form tutorial: pinning, pressing, seam finishing, good fabric handling.

I would mention that you can make the pocket facing with a small panel of your matching fabric that is visible and the rest in a lighter fabric to reduce bulk. That's a lot of denim layers for comfort.
