Anata wo mamoritai
”Are you really sure? It’s perfectly fine for you to sleep, you know! Besides Nee-chan’s such a weakling too~!” Here he went again with teasing her, however this time you could be certain that Toto was, in fact, concerned. Especially with that expression of hers - then again, she wore that expression many times on his visits already. But he knew better than to force her to sleep. He knew for a fact that Yosuga’s not really one to change her mind once she’s set up at something. The boy’s lips curved up nonetheless as she sat on the mattress, and so Toto permitted himself and did the same.
Plopped comfortably on the bed he glanced at his sister… who seemed to be fascinated by the dull prison wall. That seemed very unlikely, so he figured it must be because she was pulling herself together from falling asleep. That couldn’t be helped, he sighed. No need to force herself even one bit, really.
Tilting his head when the question was uttered, he then clapped and said, “Yes, of course! If you don’t mind — but don’t force yourself.” Sakigami quickly added, both hands raised slightly as if holding her back to emphasize his words. He never had a particular agenda of activities to be done on his daily visit. What surprise would be there for today, he wondered?
But wait! There’s something he had almost forgotten - and honestly it’s not a good thing to forget. The Mockingbird reached for his left pocket. As if unearthing a treasure he flailed the striped antidote next to Yosuga’s head. A Candy.
”Look what I brought!”
Yosuga heard the familiar clap, and her heart immediately flickered in her chest. Honestly, why did she loved that about him? Maybe it was just because he was so different from everyone else- she had no clue. But with that, she turned her attention to him, hoping the blush had left her cheeks, and noticed the candy he had obtained, likely from the Carnival Corpse. Oh, if only she had been there to watch him fight- not just because she heard it was an amazing sight! but also she wanted to cheer him on. As a "brother", as a friend, as the person she had come to love- albeit unrequitedly.
"Doesn't.... Doesn't Toto need that?" She hummed and accepted it but did not remove the packaging. She instead stared at it dully and refused to use it on herself. After all, she was a worthless being- wandering aimlessly throughout the day, lacking meaning and motive, and yet somehow managing to live by some string of cruel fate.
She shook her head in response and laid the candy on the mattress. "If Toto doesn't have one, Yosuga shouldn't either..." She confessed, as she pouted.
{ Yosuga doesn't... }
{ have a reason to live anyway. }
If one thing was for sure, Toto had more of a will. After all, he was strong, he likely had friends outside the prison- if not inside the prison as well, while she had no family left, nor did she ever attend school prior to being arrested, thus meaning she had no close friends to return to. He was really the only person who gave her the time of day, and yet she couldn't just let him slip away like that. Because of her, no less. She quietly pushed the treasure towards where he lay, as if that would somehow coax him to eat it himself.
At least he didn’t barge in and jammed the lock this time and followed the common norm to open the door normally for the time was late, unlike his usual unorthodox way. But still, he couldn’t blame her for her annoyed retort. It was nighttime after all. The lights in the halls seemed like they were sleepy too, tiredly glowing just for the guards and weird inmates doing their unimportant matters. Apparently Toto was one of those weird inmates.
"Well of course I have - but what fun is it to stay there?" Yosuga’s question was met with yet an aloof inquiry. Ever since he learned of the location of her cell, he had been practically stalking her most of the time (’Stalk’ would be a word too negative in connotation than the reality itself, he thought).
Whenever he ambled in to her room she always put on a pout like that, but never shooed him away. It happened too often, it seemed like the normal thing to do so the Mockingbird didn’t really bother to undo the downward tug on his pretend-sister’s lips. Though, was she honestly irritated this time, considering the time of the day?
Maybe compromising will do. He brought his hands to a clap as he offered, “I can… read a book while Nee-chan goes to sleep, if you’d like.”
She closed the cover of her book and put on the most melancholic expression she could. Her brain was throbbing in her skull and she could have nearly collapsed from exhaustion if she didn't sleep soon. However, she would have preferred to spend more time with Toto. While it wasn't a rare occurrence that he crept into her room, she had lately been feeling blossoming feelings of a different nature for the one she called her brother and wanted to know for sure if it was the emotion many deemed "love".
"Yosuga doesn't want to sleep," she confessed and crawled up onto the mattress whilst focusing her tired and weary eyes into his own. She could tell by the scars that decorated his once clear skin that he had been in the Carnival Corpse since the last time they had met. It saddened her a bit, and yet she knew he was strong enough and capable of protecting himself. He hadn't lost once- she'd even heard rumour his power was akin to the infamous Wretched Egg.
Yosuga sat on her heels and looked away, towards the cracks in the wall where she could hide her face from his vision. She could tell she was blushing- her cheeks were burning and she knew it would indicate her feelings to him, which she didn't want at this moment in time. Maybe some day she would be able to confess, but today wasn't that day. It was probable it wouldn't be any time soon, either.
"Is Toto... going to stay here for the night?"

Even if I want to LET GO— I can’t bring myself to do it,
Because I don’t want for that day to come: That day when I’ve finally moved on so well, AND I CAN’T REMEMBER YOUR FACE ANYMORE.
Night was approaching and the lights in the hallways were dimming, thus coaxing Yosuga to return to her bedroom, where the light would be abundant for as long as she willed it. She sat down on the floor, back resting against her bed- which wasn't very comfortable and she didn't like laying in it for longer than she had to- and pulled one of her favourite novels from the nearby bed stand.
Her eyes skimmed the text, albeit she didn't take in anything due to being overly exhausted, for a while before hearing footsteps enter her dorm. Without having to look, she knew whom the visitor was. Toto. Her newly adopted brother, who both got on her nerves and intrigued her.
"Doesn't Toto have his own room?" She asked him upon his sudden appearance. She finally turned her attention towards him, a pout grew across her lips in response. Not that she didn't like him being there, but he always seemed to latch onto her, a behaviour akin to leeches. "Yosuga needs to sleep soon..."
Yosuga has great self confidence... maybe?
Nee-chan pixel! Feel free to use, but please credit if you do.
agonixia has entered.
Cautiously, Yosuga approached the mob of white hair visible in the distance. Her eyes fluttered towards the tiles on the floor to avoid awkward contact as she parted her lips in the attempt to speak. The doubts flooded her mind as she did so, and it took all her courage to get a single word out.
"Yosuga... knows about you, maybe?" She suggested as she leant over to press a hand on her thigh to catch her breath. She hadn't been walking for long and yet she was having trouble getting air? What a shame. She'd be better off dead, if only fate would allow it.
Hiatus notice:
My hiatus on this blog is dropped for now, although I can't be on every day, but I guess my Toto is still on hiatus due to lack of roleplay partners. That is all!
With a sigh Nagi slumped lower, pressing his face against the cool surface of the bar. Narrowing his tired eyes at the empty glass that rested a few inches away. He felt more than a little reluctant to return to his room, even though everyone else had left some time ago. All week he had been plagued by nightmares that had become increasingly difficult to forget. Of course he didn’t want to worry anyone, especially Karako so he never mentioned it, instead throwing all of his efforts into Scar Chain’s plans.
"I need to be stronger…I’ll bring a decent amount of shame to my child at this rate." he muttered pushing up from the bar frowning slightly. Picking up the glass he walked over to the sink, placing it into the metal basin before heading towards the door. Looking back longingly at the now vacant bar stool before shaking his head and proceeding to open the door.
Upon opening the door Nagi was able to hear the faint sounds of someone fighting in the distance. Though he was concerned by it he wasn’t sure if there was anything he could do about it…or rather if he should do something about it. His involvement in such a situation….it might end up making things worse. Preoccupied with weighing out the pros and cons of the predicament he didn’t notice that he was no longer alone. “A-ah…” he responded turning his attention to his new found companion, raking a hand through his unruly hair “I see…” he murmured quietly, I wouldn’t mind helping you look for it, just what is it that you’re looking for?” he asked offering an awkward smile.
Hoping that he could be of some help to the strange girl…it wasn’t often that one encountered Yosuga. In fact outside of her Carnival Corpse matches it was almost unheard of. Unsure of what to expect from this encounter Nagi tried to remain positive…perhaps he could learn more about her or even become friends.
"I….um…though about that did you by chance see who it was?” he asked anxiously gesturing in the direction of the sounds that echoed through the halls. “That is, I’d rather not…interfere the guards don’t tend to discriminate when it comes to punishment…it’s be even worse if undertakers became involved…it would put a stop to the search as well.”
Yosuga shifted her eyes down towards the ground. She could tell the man was deep in thought when she first encountered him, and it made her feel guilty for having disturbed him. He was mentioning something about becoming stronger- and although she wasn't about to bring it up again- she felt somewhat connected to him for that reason. If only she could be stronger herself to protect Toto. Toto was her reason for living after all, and she wanted to do the best she could to keep him safe. Never before had she felt this way about anything.
But here she was, standing before a man she didn't know, thinking about these things whilst also wanting to know more about him. "Yosuga wants... to find somewhere to sleep," she explained, hinting that she had finally had enough of all the ruckus. Her head was hurting and she just wanted to be somewhere quiet where she could sleep for as long as she could without interruption.
The man questioned her once again, and this time she had to think on it for an answer. She didn't see the faces of any of the prisoners, but she wished she had. Then maybe they would have gotten their rightful punishment for always being so destructive and scary. She wouldn't have minded if they just left the planet, for all she cared. But she would never say that to their faces, out of fear they would hurt her, like they had constantly threatened before. Whenever they did land punches on her, she could never fight back. She didn't even know if she cared about herself enough to try and stop them. But Toto had done it for her once.
Maybe that was when she started to love him?
Uncertainly, she parted her lips to speak again. "Yosuga doesn't know them,.. maybe?" she explained. "They are always there every night, but I never saw their faces, and no one told me their names..." Her tone was soft and hardly audible; her breathing was so choppy, it was difficult for the average person to decipher what she was saying. But she was trying her best to communicate. It was just hard for her, when she wasn't sure if the receiving end of the conversation would hurt her or not.
