Hisoillu weekend, first Kill
Illumi Zoldyck is a professional assassin, he’s been killing since he could walk. Killing is nothing more than stepping on an ant or swatting a fly.
He remembers his first kill. He was 4, Silva captured a low-value target, and had Illumi slit his throat. The man’s blood ran down his arms and felt sticky in between his fingers, like a melting popsicle in the sun. Before that, he’d only ever felt his own blood from punishments but this was different, this was for pride not shame and it was exhilarating. He remembers being so proud of himself, finally joining the business he was supposed to take over. Silva was proud too and that? That was euphoric for Illumi.
He killed on his own after killing low-value targets, always with his father close behind. He was clean, no mess, no extra steps, quick and controlled just how Silva liked it.
That continued into his adult life, his nen is designed to kill and control. His body is designed to destroy. Everything about him is purposeful.
Clean, controlled, deadly. Exactly what an assassin should be.
Hisoka is entirely the opposite, he’s messy, fluid, and spontaneous.
“Hoho, first kill huh?” The man chuckled, pulling a card out of a man’s jugular. “My first kill was a cat, it scratched me so I bashed its head in with a rock.” He smiled, using the same card to perform a magic trick for the audience of corpses.
“I meant human, not unnecessary bloodshed.” Illumi clarified, sighing as he cleaned the ball of a golden pin with a handkerchief.
Hisoka put a finger to his chin in thought. Stomping in the hand of a dying man with his neon green heel.
“Ah! It was a teacher of mine in the circus, he threatened my life so I stabbed him in the chest.”
“I see.” Illumi bent down to remove a pin from a woman’s eye socket.
“Rather boring if you ask me, looking back on it I should’ve used him as a dart board. It would've been fun.” He sighed.
“It would’ve been messy and foolish.” He replied, blood splattering on his hand as the foreign object left her eye.
Hisoka smiled slyly, “It would’ve been art.”
“Death is supposed to be perfect. Not artful.” Illumi quipped, sliding his eyes over to the magician shuffling his blood-soaked cards.
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” he shrugged. “I prefer a spectacle.” A Cheshire grin spread across his sculpted features.
“Mh. Do you buy new cards every time you use them to kill?” Illumi changed the topic. Apparently, Hisoka is feeling especially himself today and Illumi doesn’t have the time or patience to keep debating.
“Mostly, though I keep the jokers.” He looks down at the cards in his hands, pulls one out of the deck. Upon first glance, it’s a pristine white joker until it disappears from Hisoka's hand.
“Where is it?” Illumi sighs. Knowing the card is most likely on his person.
“Fufufu,” The man smiles, shrugging his shoulders in mock innocence.
“If it’s in my pants again I’m going to kill you.” Illumi narrows his eyes
“Guess you’ll have to check.” He winks.
Illumi sighs again. He takes a few pins out of his waistband and throws them in the clown’s direction who dodges them all, catching a few and beginning to juggle them. Illumi ignores it and moves his hands to the buckle on his belt. Usually, the cards are just in his waistband but Hisoka has been getting braver lately.
Just as he’s about to slide his pants off he finds the card pressed against his inner thigh, it's stained with blood old and new, and disgustingly sticking to him.
“How?” Illumi asks, genuinely curious.
Hisoka makes a big show of spinning around on his heels, looking at him in mock offense.
“A magician never reveals his secrets!”
“Sigh, I guess for my biggest fan I may be able to disclose just a little!” He claps his hands together, “First, it all starts when our dearest assassin gets angry and pins me against the wall of a crime scene, then when the assassin is distracted by my beautiful face, I use the opportunity to reach my hand down the waistband of our murder and pretend to be deepening the kiss when in reality I have a beautiful little joker pressed against my palm!”
“Ah…” Illumi flushes, letting himself get distracted and not noticing that it’s…unacceptable.
“We should get out of here, the longer we stay the more the chance of our DNA being logged increases.”
“Aww Lumi! Are you worried about me? Or possibly… embarrassed?”
Illumi flings a pin out of his sleeve into Hisoka's shoulder, pinning him to the wall of the grand ballroom they’re in. He’s sure to get another card stuck somewhere for this.
