We need to focus on tracking down Grant.
Thereâs something I should tell you.
You gotta fall down before you fight back || Aden
"Is this some poetic irony or just my shit luck?â Zoe called out to the shadow that leaked across the edge of her cell. She didnât need him to announce himself. The muscle memory of his gait and the effortlessness of his ascent never really went away. Zoe wouldnât say it out loud but her motives six months ago werenât selfless. She wanted to protect him and her girls from the harm that would barrel down on them because of her missteps. âARGUS sure knows how to treat a girl on death row.â Too bad she didnât commit a crime that fit the bill.

nightstarofcentralâ:
Marâi usually wouldnât be caught dead in Star City. But when sheâd received the call from William, she knew that she needed to pay him a visit. If it was anyone else, sheâd have left it a while. But after heâd helped her through everything with her dad, she owed him. Big time.
When sheâd gotten to the address heâd texted to her, she was puzzled. A huge warehouse on the outskirts of the city wasnât exactly what sheâd expected, but when she saw a group of people heading to a small hatch at the side of the warehouse, her curiosity was piqued and she followed. As she went through the hatch, she began to hear music pounding and realised that this must be some sort of underground club. She desperately wanted to think about how cool this was, but she was anxious to find William and find out what they were doing there. She was about to walk further in when she felt a tap on her shoulder, and she turned to see William standing in front of her.
âDo tell, why the hell have you brought me here?â
@historyhasitseyesonus
William hung back in the darkened shadows of the first alcove that spotted. Underground fight clubs are a lot more spacious than I expected. He knew he needed back up but didnât have the heart to call on Uncle Roy to cover his ass this time. It wasnât fair to put him in the line of fire; not anymore. This wasnât his fight anymore. Marâi wasnât his resolution for his lack of skill but more so the perfect cover for his search. Miaâs disappearance wouldnât have signaled too many flags seven months earlier. The two hardly knew each other then but now he believed they had a better connection than this.
The radio silence made him queasy and he exhausted all of his resources and tech to find her. Why not start where this all began?Â
âHello to you too, Marâi. Itâs nice to see you,â he rolled his eyes playfully. âI thought a young woman like you would know a thing or two about clubbinâ.â William smirked. His motives werenât entirely impure. Maybe heâd find his sister and get a few dances in with his favorite Grayson.Â
dead-parents-clubâ:
âIâll be honest, I donât know how safe youâll be here.â Aden sighed. The attack on the Phoenix Institute, and who had been responsible for it, spread like wildfire around Fort Eiling. It was the closest the foot soldiers had to juicy gossip. The moment Aden had heard Aluraâs name mixed up on it all, he knew he had to seek her out. ARGUS had used him, but even he kept his head cool enough not to confront them directly - whatever they did to Alura, it had to be bad. âBut you can stay as long as you need. And I⊠I know some people. They had to go into hiding from ARGUS. I can ask them to get in touch with people who could help you hide too.â
@historyhasitseyesonusâ
Aluraâs fingers danced along the archaic set up. This must have been one of his fatherâs old hideouts. Aden seemed the type to keep to sentiment or distance himself from the growing distance between himself and the past. Whichever, he opened his doors to her, despite the chaos that it would bring to his life. âI donât think Iâll be safe anywhere but thank you for allowing me lay low here for a little bit.â Lyla and Rose were gracious enough to open their home to her. Who knew that sheâd have so many people looking out for her. âI wonât be here long. I just wanted to...I wanted you to know that I never meant to hurt those people. I just--they betrayed my family and I couldnât contain my anger.â She bowed her head in shame.Â
âI didnât know that you were a part of the resistance.âÂ
Winn wrapped his arms around his eldest daughter, giving her the tightest of squeezes. He had been heartbroken when he first heard of her plight. Heartbroken and terrified, actually. Alura was strong, just like her namesake. Just like her mother. But that didnât stop Winn from worrying whenever he heard she was in trouble. And now she was on the run from ARGUS and CADMUS, who would do whatever they could to get their hands on a Kryptonian, even if she held human genes as well. âAre you alright?â He asked, though he knew that was a double-edged question. He just needed to know that she was holding on.
And there was that question, that question that he got every time he left his home or had a visitor over. Most of the time he tried to play it up, let the hope sink in everybodyâs heart so they could have something to hold onto. He couldnât lie to his girls, though. âSheâs getting worse. She- Sheâs not having as many good days, anymore.â he said, running a hand through Aluraâs hair, not quite ready to let her go.
Alura pondered her fatherâs question tenderly. She knew that she wasnât even close to being okay. Nothing about the last six months had been okay but she couldnât jeopardize his sanity; not more than it has always been compromised. Her mother, his wife, was dying. No amount of personal strength could withstand that kind of blowback. He needed to know that not everything around him was falling apart. Not when Mary and their mother needed him. âIâm okay, Dad. You and Mom taught me how to protect myself--everythingâs going to be okay.â She smoothly distanced herself from the ache that echoed in her chest. All she wanted to do was beg for her father to protect her from the monsters; just like the old days.Â
âHow long?â Alura squeezed her father a little tighter. âWhat can I do to make it better? How can I fix it?âÂ
Adam could tell William was sorry - the third sorry really clenched it - and knew it was important to William to try and keep what little grip on his family he had. It wasnât that he didnât understand. He did. It was just that he was starting to question where he fit in Williamâs plans again. The feeling there was no commitment, no trust - it was all so familiar. And although they tried to avoid it, Adam wasnât entirely convinced they werenât falling down that same rabbit hole again.
However, the magician held his tongue on those thoughts - bottling them up and throwing them into storage for some therapist to unpack later. Or maybe drown them in whiskey - cheaper than therapy and Constantine family tradition, after all.
âMaybe you should have let me put a tracking spell on her. Probably have more luck with it than your science.â Adam replied, internally sighing and accepting that any plans he had made werenât going to happen tonight. He set the seemingly incomplete Rubikâs Cube down on the table, its pattern in perfect horizontal lines all the way around. âIt doesnât matter now. Itâs just a meal, not like we donât eat together everyday. Your shareâs in the fridge if you want to reheat it for yourself.â
His heart clenched at the disappointment that colored Adamâs features. Even when he being overly supportive, William knew that he was falling back into his old ways. He wished desperately to be unshackled from his abandonment issues; to readily accept Adamâs love for all that it was. Unconditional and pure. Yet, look at where they were, on opposite sides of table in the same roles. Adam, the benevolent lover, and William , the wallowing idiot who fucks everything up.Â
âI donât want to infringe on her freedom and she wonât hesitate to punch you. At least I have the weak defense of being her estranged half brother.â William let out a low, self deprecating chuckle. He dropped his bags onto the chair before wiggling out his tablet, typing in the complex sequence of code to unlock it. âItâs the principle, Adam. Itâs not about the meal. I promised Iâd be here and I wasnât here.â He sighed. His therapist chided him at reiterating his transgression for the universe to hear; as if theyâd lay down a stiff sentence to correct his awful choices. It was just another tool the lay distance between him and the past.Â
If I chose to stay with Dad and Felicity--maybe weâd still be a family.Â
âIâm not all that hungry. I am going to try to ensure that ARCHER stays down till we can get Zo out of ARGUSâs detainment.... but after I hear about your day. I promise no work talk--so no work talk.â
âyeah, she had a lot.â the thing is that she never really knew her moth much like her aunt but she still can have access to that, she was sure about that because she has also been researching a bit since she wanted to know more about that world and about her, mostly. ânot here but i know how to get them, what do you need?â
Alura felt her skin beginning to crawl at the thoughts of her stacking transgressions. How many people will she implicate in her attempt to purge her guilt? Lucy had no loyalty to her or family but she seemed open to the idea. âI need safe passage to Gotham and tech to scramble my biometrics. ARCHER wonât be down for long and I need to be gone before they get it back online. Iâll pay you whatever you want---I just need to become a ghost.âÂ

tommy was light on his feet - he only needed a few minutes to check on zoe. he wasnât quiet prepared, none of them were, to break her out. but they knew where she was, that alone was a big feat given they always kept their high risk prisoners in black sites. a few sleeper arrows here and there would buy him some time as the guards stations in front of zoeâs cell dozed off, âpsst. i come bearing pop tarts.â he knew she loved them as he unloaded the bag he came with, âhow are you doing? are you okay?â tommy let the hood of his grey suit down, âtheyâre not hurting you are they?â
@historyhasitseyesonus
Zoe carved a s h a k y line into the bedrock beside her âbedâ. A slabe of concrete covered with a flimsy mattress pad shouldnât be considered a bed. ARGUS didnât skip any of the steps in detaining her for her âthreatsâ to livelihood of the Glades. Despite her fatherâs pleas, she was going to be made an example. The hefty collar clenched around her neck like an anchor. She had studied the tech briefly in the last strategy session with the Canaries. A flashing green light blinked to monitor the vitals of each detainee. One up kick of their heartbeat or misleading spike in their neuro activity, a swat style swarm of officers would cram into her cell. She had learned how to cope with her responses to the lurking fear of her impending doom. A soft thud of two fleshy bodies hitting the ground echoed but she didnât flinch. None of her canaries would be stupid enough to try to rescue her. Not that she would want them to do it anyway.Â
Tommyâs voice sung to her needy ears like the swelling sound of a symphonic percussion. She turned to head to hopefully shoo away her delusions. Hear their voices or seeing them in her dreams were just one way she survived the bleak nature of the future. âYou shouldnât be here,â she mumbled. âIâm just dandy. Howâs life on the outside? No fashionable collar for you?â Zoe crawled closer to the grates that separated them.Â

Winn hated it. Hated that home wasnât safe for Alura. He could only remember the first time ARGUS had barged into their home unannounced, looking for their daughter. It had taken all of Winnâs energy to get them out of their before they started asking questions about his sick wife, but the problem was it hadnât been the last time they had searched his home. Fortunately there were others that were willing to keep her safe, give her a home where sheâd be protected. He was there now, checking in on his daughter to make sure she was okay. âYour mom sends her love,â he started, not even able to look her in the eye he felt so ashamed.
@historyhasitseyesonus
Looking back, she never thought things would get this bad. Hell, she never thought her own life would look so damn bleak. Everything she once believed in was shattered. ARGUS wasnât trying to make the world safer; it was trying to cleanse it of difference. All of the things that made it beautiful. She couldnât go home or even contact her parents in lieu of her actions. Alura wanted to desperately to forget the past and hold firmly onto her motherâs hand and cuddle up to her dad. Those days were gone. This was her new life. She peek up from the frayed edges of her motherâs copy of The Wizard of Oz. âDad,â her word lofty as it left her. She rose from her new bed and curled into him. She missed the way he smelled of crisp paper and sunshine.Â
âH-how is she doing?âÂ
legaciesofdisasterâ:
âYouâre late.â The words rolled off Adamâs tongue without accusation, just stating a fact. He looked up from his hands fidgeting with the multicolored cube he had been torturing himself over to spare a glance to the man that had just entered the room, a slight smile playing on the young magicianâs lips.
âGo on, love, tell me. What wondrous thing happened that made you miss dinner?â
@historyhasitseyesonus
William tip toed into their apartment with his bag haphazardly hanging off his shoulder. Miaâs trail had gone colder than he liked. He knew she could handle herself but they promised to be in this together. Felicityâs safety came as a relief but it didnât heed the impending cloud of chaos over their heads. The two, Clayton & Smoak-Queen, siblings bite off more than just a personal quest but the safety of the world. He tensed at the disappointment that rolled off Adamâs tongue. âI know and I am sorry. So, so deeply sorry about missing dinner.â He emphasized. âI thought I finally got a hit on Miaâs biometrics but I forgot that sheâs not only quick on her feet but wickedly keen on keeping her distance. I think itâs some self isolating trait she got from dad...â he trailed off.
â..itâs not an excuse but Iâm sorry..â
"I want you to try that thing again. You know your jedi mind trick--thingy.â Alura muttered to break the silence between them. She didnât really know how to act considering she was a wanted woman now. Hiding out with Ellie didnât seem like a horrible thing considering they did make it out together.

lucy was just too deep into her thoughts and just writting some things in her notebook, even after everything thatâs been going on here, she needed to try and focus in what she was studying. however, someone was speaking to her and she wasnât really paying attention until now. âsorry, what did you say?â
"Your mother had connections in Gotham, right?â Alura leaned closer. She needed a safe passage to the sister city for some time to reevaluate her next steps. Central City wasnât safe. If she could convince Lucy to help, maybe sheâd be able to bus a safe line for her entire family to flee. âI need to know if you may still hold those connections.â
usedtobethefutureâ:
âWhoâs there?â Though they hadnât spoken, Mary could hear the footsteps approachâ she could hear their heart beating against their chest, whoever it was. âSay something.â
Alura entered with a considerable amount of stealth. She didnât want to stir the peace of her former home. After what she did, she didnât think she would ever be worthy of coming back. Alura needed to know that her family was safe before she did anything else.Â
âItâs me, Mar.â

Alura stumbled through the r u m b l e with a serious wallow in her gait. Soot covered the familiar corridors that spiraled out before her. Her eyes burned from the blurring tears she shed. Her fingers trembled from the chaotic buzz that rattled up between her joints. Never in her life had she felt such rapturous rage; it almost felt like the very core of her being had been blitzed between the barbed blades of ARGUSâs machine.
How could they?
How could they do something so inhumane?
After everything I gave them....
How could they B E T R A Y A L me in the most vicious way?Â
The moments prior blurred up like some fucked up nightmare. Images of her motherâs frail frame posted on the grainy hologram. A rousing glee filling the leery looking features of her former colleagues. They cheered at the fallen false god; the Alien that needed to be exterminated.Â
Kara Zor El. Supergirl. Mom.Â
She couldnât control the tempting fires of rage that boiled through her skin. Rays of unkempt power torched through steels and glass. Aluraâs screams only barely masked by the wayward cries of those who scattered in fear of the Kryptonianâs might. She may not be able the fly or see through walls but the rich blood of her ancestors coated her with liquid fire; all amassed in her gut. Alura swallowed that fire for so long. She couldnât fight the desire to inflict such pain onto the very institution that built off her familyâs. Who would police ARGUS if Supergirl died?Â
Me.Â
The heels of her hands pressed into the fleshy parts of her temples as she tried to force out the creeping remorse that bubbled up within her. A seething anger chiding her goodness for caring for the monsters that destroyed her family. Alura hung into the cool walls to force out the wailing sirens that blared over her. Jarring voices called through the chatter. All hoping to enslave the wild card. Alura peeled her foot off the ground beneath her, breathing in the chaos before kicking back against the wall. Her foot barely dented it. When did she lose touch with her power?Â
Câmon--youâre just going to let them take you away?Â
Breathing in a sharp inhale, she tried once more as the figures drew closer. For mom. The dry wall shattered beneath the weight of her foot and the steel bent to accommodate the force. Alura needed to know she could  still do it. Rocking forward on her heels, she forced her back through the weight baring post and continued to barrel through to the outside. The bitter kiss of the balmy evening breezed across the back of her neck.Â
Alura coughed out the dust that back filled her lungs as she stumbled back into the darkness. Her life was shattered.Â
Everything was broken.Â
