Throwback Thursday: Hits From The 2000s
Beyonce and Jay Z via Google Search
I went hard AF last week with some edgy Classic Hip Hop for Throwback Thursday. I’m gonna soften up and go with some sweet pop picks this week.
Beyonce ft. Jay Z - “Crazy In Love”
The first solo hit of what’s become such an iconic career for Beyonce, highlighted by Jay Z’s dope flow.
The Black Eyed Peas - “Where Is The Love”
Take a listen. Crazy how fitting some of these lyrics are today.
Lily Allen - “The Fear”
Another socially-conscious song that will mesmerize you.
Lady Gaga - “Poker Face”
We’ll see what she does this Sunday for her Super Bowl halftime performance. Was there a bigger song in ‘09? - Chris M.
Throwback Thursday: Classic Hip Hop EP
The Fugees via Google Search
For me, the best thing about Spotify is the experience of discovering and re-discovering classic music. It’s a fun reminder of why I even like music in the first place and it’s also pretty mind-blowing to listen to these songs 20+ years later and realize which ones still resonate. With that, I’m gonna start picking out and featuring some faves in this Throwback Thursday spot. I’m gonna hit shuffle mode and pick out four dope singles--- EP style--- featuring some big names and some forgotten ones. Today, I’ll kick it off with some classic Hip Hop and like always, will keep you guessing by rotating genres every week. Just click on the link to listen on Spotify. Enjoy. - Chris M.
Common - “I Used To Love H.E.R.”
Da Brat - “Funkdafied”
Jay Z - “Dopeman”
Fugees - “Fu-Gee-La”
