oh. seasons are about to be 20 dollars...
i think this might be the end of me playing destiny. :/
I want to jump in now and let y'all know that the change in price isn't that drastic
seasons aren't going to cost $20, they're going to cost $12
still not great considering the set amounts that silver comes in (which I hope they'll address since they're going through with this) but the price is NOT doubling
so, i did see people try to explain this in the replies but im gonna say it here again: as of right now you cannot buy 1200 silver. the bundle options are 500 silver for $4.99 (all prices american), 1,100 silver for $9.99, 2000 silver for $19.99, etc (there are some packs for $50). to get 1200 silver, you either have to buy a $4.99 pack and then a $9.99 pack OR buy a $19.99 pack. not counting sales tax (which some states do take, even for digital sales) that is, at least, $15. or $20.
now, i do not know if bungie plans on coming out with a specific 1,200 silver pack, but as of right now there is none. so yes. as they are, season prices are, essentially, doubling. like yes, 1,200 is exactly equivalent to $12, but you cannot go onto any console game store and spend $12 to get the season (idk how PC players acquire seasons).
I hope you don't mind my two-cents OP but I wanted to add PC info.
Here's a screenshot of the Steam page silver bundles, and they're pretty much identical to what you mentioned for console. I assume that people will say "You can save up the surplus silver for a 'bonus' season after X number of purchases!" But like, that implies that you have to buy multiple seasons at $15-20 to build up that surplus.
Honestly, this is a tactic I see much more commonly in Gatchas and ehhh it does not inspire good feelings. :(
