Cultural Appropriation

I get a lot of love on here (which makes me happy 😛) but i also, like many others, get a lot of hate. There’s not much you can say that would genuinely offend me or provoke a reaction I’m just not that kind of person to bite. But I am beginning to find ‘she’s racist’ 10 times a day quite ‘problematic’ myself.

Anyone who is interested in what I have to say online and reads what I post politically; about, for example, crime and class and immigration… Or if you have followed me for a long time you would remember the 3 years I revisited Africa to complete a school build project I accidentally started in kenya through the love of their country and culture. You will realise that I really am quite the opposite of a racist person.

Focusing on my beauty journalism commenting and shooting trends like the bindi and dreadlocks and using that to label me as a racist seems so bizarre. Trends deriving from religion and culture is as old as time, I can’t actually think of anywhere else trends do come from. ANYONE can be spiritual, ANYONE has the right wear a bindi, and ANYONE can chose to adorn their face however they may chose. Maybe it’s part of their culture, maybe they wear it to keep away negative energy, maybe they wear it purely to look and feel beautiful. Embracing these cultures is only a positive step towards everyone in this world living in harmony.

Please debate, it’s what I love, I respect people who can challenge me and a lot of the time reading what people say online can change my opinion. But stop the hate, it’s way more disgusting than DIY dreads x

what i think is truly bizarre is people who are called out and then proceed to talk about their own feelings. like for once try to think hmmm how are the things that i am saying or the things that i am supporting hurtful? why would someone think the things im doing are racist? sure its unpleasant to think about yourself as a flawed person that does shitty things, but its a whole lot better than telling people that their anger ans frustrations are ridiculous. people have the right to be upset about foreigners using their culture out of context. i dont know what so hard about that. just think critically about your actions. youre not always right. just try to be better jfc. stop acting to entitled.
