Dark eyes meet the other’s gaze , though there’s not much fondness currently lingering in them. He feels empty ; void of emotions he would normally feel when in Sachi’s presence. He wasn’t sure he could speak without screaming , so instead of responding at first he offered her a nod. The smile on her lips nearly making his skin crawl ; it wasn’t real , so why bother offering him another lie?. He considers slipping off his shoes , though Shou doesn’t believe he’ll stay long enough to get comfortable. He’s already on edge , fingers itching to tug another cigarette from his pocket to fill his lungs. Anything to calm him down ; outside he seemed serious but inside the anger was slowly building. Surging under the surface as if replacing the blood in his lungs.
❛ You know why i’m here. Drop the friendly host act Sachi. ❜ He had never believed he would speak this way to her , and it feels foreign as he digs through his pocket to retrieve the note. The damned note that confirmed what he knew. But what he had chosen to over look then ruin the veil of normal. There was nothing left now , all his compassion eaten away by the constant lies. Once his fingers curled around the note he thrust it in her direction , tilting his head to meet her gaze briefly.
❛ Explain.❜
Please don’t do this, her mind begs, but she knows that he deserves the truth. She knew that this day would come. That he would find out. That she would never find the courage to tell him herself, even if she wanted to. It was strange, really. She had faced monsters in all shapes of form. Faced Hell itself, but this confrontation was what terrified her the most. She could lose him, she could really lose him and he was the only thing that was keeping her grounded.
Sachiko was now just an empty shell of who she used to be, but it was Shou who helped her try and hold herself together. If she lost him, she wasn’t sure what would happen -- not just to her, but the world around her as well. Would she succumb to the instincts that had become who she was? Would her heart be as tainted as her soul?
The sharpness of his voice feels like a blade being dragged across her flesh, and she almost flinches as she looks down. She wasn’t standing in her own blood, but right now she wished that she was. Maybe if that knife wasn’t just a figure but a literal entity, she’d be able to pull herself together more.
Looking back, she casts the note a listless glance. Her eyes recognizes the handwriting and there is bile in her mouth. The shadows around them dance and flicker, as if they were living beings waking from a slumber. The room around them seemed to become hotter, almost humid as a surge of anger gnaws at her innards.
This was all a game to him.
“It’s as it says, Shou-yah. I am dead ... I have been, for a long while now.” Her words were matter-of-fact, but it was the only way she would be able to control herself. But someone like Shou would see how her hands formed fists at her side now, nails digging into her flesh so hard, blood seeped to the surface -- but not for long. The small cuts healed over in a matter of seconds, leaving crimson stains in its wake.
“Remember my trip to the states? Well, in truth, I was ... I was in Hell.” Tearing her eyes away, she shudders, and she feels red hot tears sting her eyes. “I was working on a case, and I guess I got too close to the killer ... Next thing I know, I am being tortured. Over and over and over again ... “ She doesn’t try to spare him the details. He needs to understand what she had been through, why she has changed so drastically.
And maybe then he will understand why she hid everything from him.
“It felt like months down there. Months that never seemed to have an end, and I couldn’t -- I couldn’t take it anymore. I gave in, made a deal with Ko... Kobal.” She whispered his name as if it was some taboo topic. “He brought me back to life, but I became a monster like him ...” Only a single tear escaped her, a tear that was quickly swept aside. Finally, she forced herself to look his way again.
“I didn’t -- I had wanted to tell you for a long, long time. But, I was also ... I was having a hard time coming into terms with what happened to me, too. It was something I couldn’t talk about, didn’t want to talk about. It’s so fucking stupid of me because I know better, but the less I spoke of it, the more like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from it became. And I would rather live in a nightmare than have it be my reality.”
Shaking her head, she makes her way back to her kitchen, searching for a drink. A drink that wouldn’t sooth her soul or even allow her to escape. “Well, now you know. You’re be -- old best friend is a literal bitch now.” Her words were dry as she took a swig straight from the bottle.
“What are you going to do now? I -- I never ... I hated lying to you. But, I wasn’t ready to talk about it. And the thing is, I don’t think I ever will be.”

“– we still do it,” he followed her words like it came out of his own mouth, “Sometimes, we really can’t help it.”
He hated to make it about himself but her words fit right with him like a puzzle piece. The male had more experience about that than she thinks. He understood it so much that it almost hurts.
The male’s gaze made an immediate fling down to the shirt he wore before it scrolled back up to meet her pair of hues. It came as a shock to him that his shirt had caused such a horrible effect on her. It wasn’t the fact that clothes had the capability to trigger a memory or a resemblance of another. It was the fact that it was this particular t-shirt he wore that caused such an event. It was an old shirt that never saw the light of day in his closet. He had no plans of ever wearing it until today. He had realized the consequence of not doing his pile of laundry for a while. These type of coincidences interested him and at the same time made him worried. Who would have known that a mere clothing decision would spark up something big?
“It’s not stupid!” he assured with volume. He always assured with volume.
It was happening again. A surge of curiosity and inclination rocketed up his body. The hands that laid at his sides began to curl up. Then, his posture straightened up as his shoulders rose from a slump. And soon his lips began to part for his tongue that was itching with words to vocalize. He tried to nail himself behind that precious borderline, but even nails couldn’t hold him. “Is this bad person still targeting you?”
It was part of human nature, was it not? While she wasn’t human by species -- anymore -- she was still ( arguably ) human in ever other way. She still reacted the same way other humans did, typically with rash anger and impulsive behavior during stressful moments. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been given the gift of being able to cast that side of her yet. “I suppose you’re right, huh?” She offered him a weak smile, still not proud of her actions. Sachi was just grateful that the other seemed to be so understanding; a certain amount of understanding and forgiveness she would often show others but never really to herself. You’re your own worst critic, right? Something like that, anyway.
Though, maybe she had spoken too soon. Her teeth chewed down on the inside of her cheek as he looked down to observe his own shirt. The way he tried to piece together how something so mundane could elicit such a sensitive reaction. Sachiko, for lack of faith in humanity, expected him to call her crazy. That he was just trying to be nice at first, but realized that the woman who yelled at him over a choice of wardrobe really was out of her mind.
And, to her surprise, it never came. Once more she was met with the same understanding from before, and it almost amazes her. So, there were still good ones out there, huh? It was a shame he was talking to someone like her, a soul made of darkness and torment.
“No, it’s pretty darn stupid. I think so, anyone else would. But, it is what it is, right?” Her shoulders rise and fall in a nonchalant shrug, knowing that there was no point on lingering on it. The moment had passed, her little episode over with -- but far from forgotten, either. It was his following question, however, that nearly pushes her over the edge.
But, she was prepared for it, somehow. She may not have learned how to cast aside her humanity completely, but she did learn how to harden herself and pretend like she wasn’t bleeding inside.
“No, he isn’t,” she answers, carefully. After all, the last thing he checked, he had killed her. “Though, if he was, my job would be a lot easier.” Though she would rather not be the one working his case -- ever again. “He’s a ... Killer I’ve hunted down in the past. I guess I got too close to catching him, I almost became his next victim.” It wasn’t confidential information, not anymore. And talking about it became easier, as long as she didn’t let slip that the killer actually succeeded in making her his next victim.

“I guess I’ve become popular enough that even the Queen herself knows my name.” he looked up to the woman and stared. “What an honor.” he continued, his voice dripping with sarcasm. To be honest, he was irked that his identity and reputation had spread this much. If he knew that he’ll have to deal with these kind of things, he should have just stayed as a civilian. ( Maybe become a damn good prosecutor too–! oh well… )
He jerked away from the thugs with a sneer. He fixed his jacket and grumbled. His shoulder felt a bit stiff from being held behind by them. ( Bastards )
That pleasant smile on her face screamed fake to him that he just stared at her with a deadpanned look on his face. No wonder famiglias underestimated this woman before. She didn’t look like she could hurt a fly. ( But that’s what she wanted them to think. ) A confident smirk spread across his features at her inquiry. He didn’t find anything of importance and he expected that. “Unfortunately not.” he replied. He had kept his guard up, he knew that even though they were alone, and she might not look like it. She’s capable of killing him of she wants to. But even if she decides to, he’s not just going to lay down like a dog. And whoever gave the assumption that he actually needs to find information from this famiglia. He already have it. He had enough intel about the Queen than she might even have with herself.
“I wouldn’t go that far, now,” she states, though she picks up on his sarcasm with ill reactions -- not that she would allow herself to show it. Sachiko, for all her current power and strength, was not a woman without reason. She runs on respect, and as long as that was something that was given into consideration, most interactions with her were rather smooth. Unless she had to make point through other means, however. Sometimes one has to get their hands dirty in order to deliver a message, and depending on the amount of respect she receives would determine how quick or painful the process may be. “You’re good enough to catch my attention, but I think I will be able to determine if those rumors are credible or not through time.”
Once the door closes behind her men, her head turns to the side toward the window, which took up 80% of the wall. From here, she could over-look the kingdom she had made for herself, under the guise of a detective agency of all things. In the short two years of her rule, she had already extended allies within parts of Seoul that her father could only dream of accomplishing. Winning over the law was not very hard for her if you knew who to reach out to. Branches of the criminal justice that wanted nothing but the safety of the citizens but damning the protocols that may prevent them from doing their jobs. It was with her help that they were able to work around the law without being caught, all the while putting her enemies either behind bars or ten feet underground.
As far as she was concerned, it was a win-win situation as long as everyone played their cards right.
“What a shame. I am telling you this out of confidentiality,” as she speaks, she crosses her large office and approached a cabinet of drinks. Popping it open, she searches her selection of drinks. “there are secrets from before my rise to power that I was hoping you would have uncovered for me. Would make things a lot more easier. Of course, you’d be rewarded for your services if you had.” Pulling out a bottle of tequila -- not the classy drink often associated with mafia men and the yakuza, but Sachi often sent out a fuck you to supposed social norms -- she set the bottle down on the table between them with two glasses.
“Do you drink, Lee-ssi?”

☆ ┇Before he could fully walk away from the stranger, he got suprised when she asked him to stay. He didn’t have anything better to do that night so he decided to keep her company. He nodded his head gently as he sat himself down next to her onto the bench. “Sure.” David answered with a soft smile.
“Did I ever tell you my name?” He asked her knowing himself he probably had forgot to introduce himself. He did not want things to go awkward between the two at their first meeting but he already felt a bit idiotic to forget to tell her who he is.
It was unlike Sachi to reach out to others, though she refused to see this as a plea for sympathy. With all of the demons and monsters that lived in her head, it was kind of a relief to have company other than her own. So, when he takes her offer, a small wave of relief washes over her. It will only be a temporary fix, she knows, but it was better than torturing herself.
At the question, she pretended like she had to think about it, even if she already knew the answer to that. “I don’t think you have,” she answers after a pause. Flashing him a smile, she pushed her hair back. “But neither have I, to be fair. I’m Sachiko.”

“Yes, you look like crap!” he boldly answer to her words. He disagree at times at how much an addict the girl was towards coffee but seeing at times how much an all nighter she have pull and stay up for cases makes Jaewon a bit worried yet understanding as to why coffee was a must to her. “Come on now, let’s have a talk outside..” he grabs the girl hand and pratically drags her outside of the office letting her see the sun. “Wasn’t they say that sunshine give vitamin to skin? I think you loss to much of vitamin, you look like a ghost” he asked out.
Most people would have been offended with how readily the other had agreed to such a statement, but at the same time, if she was the one who said it first, she had no right to be. All that mattered was she had her coffee, which also meant she had enough energy to get through the day. “Yah, coming, coming! No need to pull!” Laughing quietly, she followed along, a smile siting on her lips as they finally stepped out of the building. “That may be a possibility. I feel like I haven’t seen the sun in ages!”

He was taken aback at the reply he got; feeling slight guilty yet amuse to see how a girl completely break whenever their coffee didn’t arrive. “Come on, give me a break! I thought you would smile..” he puckered his lips a bit before pulling out from behind him two cups of coffee he ordered and hide it along whilst talking to her. “Ah! Since I brought you two, take a rest and lets drink outside for some fresh air. You don’t look pretty like this…” he commented.
And just like that, her eyes were all smiles. Was she a coffee addict? Probably. Everyone who worked in the law enforcement were; they needed it for sheer survival. “Why would I smile if you forgot one of the most important things to me?” She retorted, this time her voice ore clearly playful as she took the offered drink ... s. “I’m sorry I am so cranky without my caffeine.” Quick to apologize, she sipped at the beverage that tasted like ambrosia on her tongue. “That would be nice, actually. I know I probably look like crap.”
[ ` jaewon | @itxxbwon ]
“Ah, I forgot to bring you one!” he claps his hand, a heave of sigh leaving his lips as he faces her. “Would you be angry if I told you that I left it out on the bench in front of the house?” he grins mischievously. “Y’know to have you walk and take it yourself… just for fun of it”
He clearly hasn’t dealt with her when she was deprived of coffee. “Have I somehow done you wrong in some past life?” She asked sharply, clearly offended. Boy would she love to punch that grin off his face, but she was sure even she couldn’t lie herself out of police brutality if she did. “And guess who will be marching back with me, asshole.” Even then, however, there was slight hint of humor in her voice.
“Please tell me you brought coffee with you.”
