⚔️ Steel Edge Booth ⚔️
[ ⚔ ] — Booths… festivals… Jake never much cared for taking part in the festive side of these things, but with Meg’s pregnancy and his new promotion at the Smithy, the half-elf’s newfound obligations didn’t leave much room for him to enjoy his usual stress relievers of sparring and fighting. Couldn’t stress out the wife, or get himself hurt when he had so much more important things on his plate now.
That left him with a lot of time on his hands to forge. Just… forge. He had made a lot of things, working on his personal projects, but found that he didn’t really have much of a use for them.
So why not pawn them off on some sap? He’ll be taking part in the festivities like Margaret wants, and making some extra money in the process, too.
“If you’re steppin’ up to my booth, you better be buying something. We don’t want window shoppers here.” Or cheapskates.

Flora chuckled at her coworker, he could be a real curmudgeon sometimes. He was a good guy, kind of cold, but a good guy as a whole.
“Don’t worry, I’m here to make a purchase. I’d like to get one of the magical necklaces.” She said giving him a small smile.

Old Friends || Flora & Calvin
Flora was heading home from the library with a few books, she was identifying some new stones she’d found. She had a small museum in her home, not that it was open to the public, and most of the rocks and relics were tucked away in safe boxes. But they were all labelled and she had a doc where she had everything written up.
When she was passing by the docks she heard a familiar tune. It made her heart jump. It was silly, but she followed it. Even if it wasn’t them (why would it be them?) she’d at least be able to enjoy the song.
As she got closer she saw them. She froze.
“Calvin,” She said.

Skye’s Black Magic Booth
Admittedly, this wasn’t his thing. Well, with troubles regarding legality aside, it wasn’t a bad opportunity to unload on some various nicks-and-knacks he’d accumulated over several means. There was no point in leaving them to sit in a storage closet somewhere.
So, settled somewhere outside the foray, he’d set up a rather inconspicuous looking booth with a small placard to avoid second glances. It’s the best way to avoid… unsavory characters, like lawmen, for instance.
Reclining leisurely and biding his time with filing his nails, he doesn’t pay much of a second glance outside of his meticulous perfectionism, blending into the scenery with boredom seeping into his body language.
“Don’t be fooled by the name. There’s something for everybody.”

Oh. It was the sad man she spied a notebook on his table and was interested. Flora hadn’t liked his art, but it was done well. It was high quality art, it just wasn’t her cup of tea. But how could you ruin a notebook with your sorrows? It’s just a notebook.
A notebook that takes away your woes. Not exactly ruined. It was actually quite nice. She wasn’t sure she had any reason for it. She didn’t get sad very often. There just wasn’t much to be sad about in her life right now.
She turned her attention to his other wares. Atmospheric candles. Flora loved reading in a candle lit room, and these were magic.
“I’d love the thunderstorm candle” Flora said, digging in her wallet. She loved reading on a rainy night, if this candle could allow her to do that on rainless nights, well that’d be wonderful.

The sky overhead casts clouds over the region with an impending sense of doom. He hates days like these, when the stars in space are blotted out with thick wisps of gray. He couldn’t care less about how the sun struggles to peak out into the street, but nighttime, his time, was another matter altogether.
Skye sits at his easel, paintbrush in hand. This piece doesn’t have a name, and every stroke of his brush on canvas is made out of autonomous movement. What he produces is entirely up to the spirit that guides his hand, eyes fixated on nothing in particular as his brush dips into red, black, maroon.
It’s one of those quieter afternoons at Black Rose Salon. The music ever-playing blends note into note until all he can hear is noise. It’s only until his hand stops moving that he realizes what he was supposed to be doing in the first place, head tilting with curious intrigue at the final product.
Fire flicks up into the inky darkness above, abstract and yet unmistakably formed into hands. Every lick of the flames resembles fingers, attached to appendages unseen and desperately gripping for anything in the void that encapsulates them. Macabre, as most of them tend to be.
He hadn’t realized his personal space was invaded until he feels a second presence in his midst. In that same regard, he hadn’t realized someone entered the Salon at all until he takes a second of pause, musing over his art like a curious dog.
“What do you think?” Skye doesn’t turn from his seat, pondering over what kind of deeper meaning might lie in every spatter of paint. “Not very happy, is it?”
Flora had thick, wavy, unruly hair. It never listened and it always got in the way. She did whatever she could to tame it even a little, and one of those things was one of those fancy hair sprays they only sell at salons.
She entered The Black Rose Salon and was immediately hit with a depressing vibe. She looked around to see what was causing it. The only thing she could see was a man at an easel. What a sad man he must be.
But that wasn’t her business.
Flora went to the shelves that held the products they had for sale and found the spray she was looking for. She noticed there wasn’t a cashier and looked around to see if any other people were working in the front room. But there wasn’t anyone. It was just her and the sad man. He must work here, she couldn’t imagine someone would just bring their easel into an empty store and start painting.
She went over to get his attention, she needed to purchase this spray.
Instead of immediately asking for his assistance she took a moment to look at what he’d been making. In that time he spoke.
She didn’t like it. But she couldn’t say that.
“Art doesn’t have to be happy,” Flora said simply.
Never again - open to multiple
Things were… Okay. At least that’s what he hoped, but he would never know. A lot of time had passed and he came across a problem. He couldn’t tell the truth. Of course, he knew in some situations keeping things private was optimal. For a multitude of reasons. What someone didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them. A common saying, but he was tired. Of all the lies. Come on! Who the hell lies about not liking certain foods and willing eating those foods not ONCE, but NUMEROUS times!
He heard of something called a truth potion, so he decided to go buy it. He was skeptical of it working though. Although he did buy other potions to test them out for future use. Today though… He was going, to tell the truth. It was probably safer to test the potion at home, but he wasn’t ready for that. At all. Downing the potion he nearly spat the liquid out. It was probably the worst, ONE of the worst things he’s ever drunk.
Nothing happened. What a rip off. Oh well. At least I know for the future. Never to drink this again. He was disappointed nothing had happened, but he couldn’t do anything about it. Instead, he went inside a store and got a box of chocolate milk. Although the line was long and he began to get irritated from having to wait so long.
“Can you pay any fucking slower?”
Flora was at the store picking up some groceries. Instant curries mostly. They weren’t very healthy but she had quite the taste for them.
She was excited to see that they had a two for one sale, so she grabbed as many as she could. Since they were dried they wouldn’t go bad and she wouldn’t have to go shopping for awhile. She of course also got a large bag of rice. Not that she was out, you just never could have to much rice.
As she was getting rung up she noticed the man behind her seemed pretty annoyed. Whatever he was annoyed with she wished he’d be annoyed with it somewhere else. Then he spoke.
Flora turned to look at him in shock. Had he really just said that?
“I absolutely can,” She said flatly before putting her bills back into her wallet and beginning to take out coins from her coin purse.
