⚓The Surprise, 6th Rate Frigate of 28 guns in the service of His Majesty's Royal Navy. Commanded by the Honorable Lucky Jack Aubrey. French-built with a bluff bow and lovely lines, weatherly, stiff and fast when she is well-handled. This is an Aubrey/Maturin aesthetic blog (if that isn’t already obvious enough) everything posted is something either Jack Aubrey or Stephen Maturin would post. ⚓ I cry over ships and fictional people. I also have an obsession with the Age of Sail and probably have a doppelgänger in some parallel universe that is a naval captain. I write when I’m not reading and read when I’m not writing and that’s about all I’m good at.

behold! by Endurance we sit comfortably, or something

based on That One Photo by Frank Hurley, which I am obsessed with, this has been my main project this year. it's doubleknit, so theoretically reversible, although the seaming means that one side is much neater than the other. it was a stash yarn project, including 100g of sock yarn from a shop in Bergen (the blue) and 100g of handspun sockish yarn from Tormisdale Croft on Islay (the grey), so about as far from Antarctica as it's possible to buy yarn 😅
