I have a question. I live in an environment where I cannot burn incense or candles and I would like to set up an altar and cleanse my environment, but it is also all carpet, so the floor washes don't work too well... I've been searching everywhere for advice but I can't find anything... What do I do to cleanse, ritual or even anything that highly recommends to burn something??? ---a struggling pagan sapling.🌱
What about herbal water or flower essences in a spray bottle. Some people have suggested salt water in a spray bottle but it can be corrosive to some things. If you don’t have a spray bottle there’s also a process called asperging which is basically dabbing some herbs in a water blend and sprinkling it around. That might work for you. Lastly, if visualization is your thing you can visualize cleaning the space.
Music/sound can also work. You can go stomp around and crash some loud things together in all the rooms/spaces you want to cleanse with the idea of pushing all the unwanted grime out (or a song you can play that has that same vibe)/ If you want, follow up with another round of something light and twinkly, like bells (or even some coins in a glass jar that you can shake, or a song about how everything is okay now) to settle things into nice-ness again.
music is a good one! All of these are good ones!
I sprinkle herbs/scent powder onto the carpet and vacuum it up for cleansing. The scent powder is from the store and actually made for this purpose; some scents are cheesy but I got one that was based on amber. The vacuum heats and blows air through the herbs so the scent definitely amps up.
Also, you could enchant a besom and sweep the space aetherically clean if you like.
My ex taught me the best chant ever for that- “Sweep, sweep, sweep the floor, Sweep the bullshit out the door!”
A little while ago, I made a carpet sprinkle that was meant to both physically and magically cleanse the space while making it feel like a happy and relaxing home. I have the added challenge of cats, so I researched some ingredients and picked a few herbs that I thought would work well. Next, I called my vet to make sure all of my ingredients were as cat safe as I thought they were. She said everything was fine and gave me the go-ahead*, so I mixed up a batch and gave it a shot. It smelled amazing, and I found it to be pretty effective! So here’s what I used:
Base: Baking Soda (neutralizes carpet odors)
Herbs (grind up equal parts of the following): –Chamomile (cleansing, purification, protection, relaxation) –Calendula (protection, love, warmth) –Catnip (prosperity, happiness, strengthening the bond between you and your cats)
Add the herbs into the baking soda and stir until evenly ditributed. Sprinkle the mixture on your carpet. (Even though the mixture was designed to be safe for my cats, I still put my guys in the other room and closed the door for this part. I wanted to keep them from rolling in it and making a mess of themselves – it has catnip in it, remember. The purpose of making the mixture cat safe, for me, was the peace of mind that comes with not having to worry if I missed a tiny spot while vacuuming.) Let it sit for 10 minutes, then vacuum it up! *Note: If you’d like to try this, I would recommend running the ingredients by your vet as well. I don’t know your cat’s health history, so I can’t guarantee this recipe’s safety. It’s always best to talk to your vet about your pet’s individual needs.
Reblogging this because I've had a couple people ask me for that ^ recipe recently.
