Scary Fact #69: How strange?
If you damage a certain part of your brain, be it genetically or via accident, you will not recognize faces anymore, you will see what they are made of but you cannot put them together to form faces but you can still recognize everything else without problems.
It is called prosopagnosia and unfortunately you can be born with it
I’ve prosopagnosia and we didn’t even realize this before I were 17yo and two of my coworkers were standing right next to each other and I couldn’t tell them apart. (We all had the same work clothes that covered everything but the face.)
Dunno, maybe someone who got it due to hitting their head in an accident or something would find it weird because their brain hasn’t learned to recognize people by features other than the face. Really hard to think it’s weird when you’re born with it tho.
it can be a bit funny sometimes like the other day my sister got a haircut and i had NO IDEA who she was until she said something and i recognized her voice lmao, but yeah imagine suddenly “getting” it like i recognize people by the way they walk, their hair, voice, heck even their glasses i cant imagine how it would be like to have to get all of these cues all of a sudden :S
