One of the best (worst) (best) things about having a Sufferer in your media is when you get a chapter/episode/session/whatever that goes really, really well for them, but the overall plot hasn't progressed far enough to actually allow them a narratively satisfying peace, so you know that the writers are only giving them this little break because they're teeing up an entire new magnitude of despair for them. You're seeing them smile for the first time in a week, and that should feel cathartic, but you're also watching the writers replace the Sword of Damocles above them with an Acme piano
