Long time no see! We’re back for part two of our DOUBLE QUIDDITCH EXTRAVAGANZA! One would think that the stands would clear out of the other two houses now that their match is finished but not so! Everyone is gearing up to watch these infamous rivals face off for the first time this season! Who will be victorious? Let’s find out!
Right out the gate, both teams were going hard and fast! Slytherin came right out with the first couple of scores, gathering an early lead, but Gryffindor would not be sidelined! Using some sort of new system of signs and signals, the chaser trio performed passes and plays surprising to their opponents! In particular, chaser Gogo Tanaka was taking head of this charge, and scored many of the goals to close in the lead!
From there, it was back and forth. First Slytherin would have the lead, then Gryffindor, then Slytherin would steal it back, so on and so forth. Seemingly the beaters were not curving the favor on either side, but that’s because they were too busy dealing with each other. The beater squads of these teams have an infamous rivalry and both were in the running to take the other one out. The sounds of wood hitting leather echoed across the pitch as monstrous hits were cast towards one another, each side only barely able to dodge! Slytherin took a note out of Ravenclaw’s book and went for the Dopplebeater Defense against Gryffindor’s famously strong Hercules Katsaros. However, he was expecting it this time around and managed to avoid it using a Sloth Grip Roll! The crowd went absolutely wild!
However, by the time Hercules realized what was actually going on, it was too late. The hard double hit by the Slytherin beaters had not actually been meant for him, but for the player who had been flying behind him--Gogo Tanaka. By dodging the hit, he’d cleared up the path for the bludger to hit the star chaser. And it did, hard. So hard in fact, that she fell off her broom. The referee was able to stop the match and use magic to catch her before any tremendous damage could be done, but the hit had still managed to break her arm. As she was sent to the Hospital wing, the match continued.
Without their third chaser, Gyffindor started to lose their lead. Slytherin wracked up point after point, hoping to pass the 150 marker. However, before then, the Slytherin seeker seemed to spot the snitch. Before they could catch it, the Gryffindor seeker joined in the race and the two had what turned to be a violent race to end the game. Each team’s beaters shot nasty hits towards their opponents, which they were forced to dodge in their pursuit. It was a neck and neck race, but in the end, Hercules managed to force the Slytherin seeker back, allowing his teammate to catch the snitch!
Truly an astounding match! Although Gryffindor lost a member in the process, they still came out victorious, 540 to 450! Thus, this ends the fall portion of the quidditch season! With weather getting colder, the holiday break coming up, and impending snow storms, quidditch will be taking a break! Fear not though, we will be back March 3rd to kick off spring with Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff! See you then and Happy Holidays!
