today cades did not want to do anything. he didn’t have the energy.

at least, not until the sun went down. then he went outside, and climbed a hill and then a tree, and he sat there looking over their forests at the bright skies of the other side. all their lights, their beauty. and he thought about him. and he realized that all day he did want to do something - he just knew he couldn’t.

he wanted to see him. 

he just doesn’t know how

he doesn’t want him to leave. life isn’t like life with him. it’s not mundane, everyday, simple. because the mundane, everyday, simple things don’t feel that way. waking up is funner. doing dishes is brighter. it’s like he wants to show auda the world - his world. like auda finds it fascinating. auda makes life fascinating.

i don’t know his name yet, but he would be annoyed all the time. at everything. patience? he’s never known patience. he gets his way usually, not through whining or waiting but through means of his own. he knows what he likes, dislikes, what he needs and wants and what he absolutely can’t have. he’s right, all the time. he has to be. because it costs too much to be wrong. when he meets cades, that’s when he’s confused; suddenly he is met with this person that can’t be controlled, that he doesn’t know if he wants or not, and more importantly, a person he can’t have just because he wants him.

fears

cades has a fear of heights. or, well, maybe not a fear, but a strong dislike. if he could stay on the ground or at least close to it for all his life, he’d prefer it. but the good things are always up high. a clear view of the sunset, the cookies his mom doesn’t want him to eat, etc. when you’re up high, the thing is you have to find a way to get down, and for some reason it’s always harder than getting up. 

he remembers climbing trees with his brother when he was a kid, racing to go higher only to get to the top and realize it’s a long ways down and now he has to go down it all backwards. he cried for an hour before his mom and brother got into the tree to guide him down. 

even with hiking. he likes mountains and hills, the challenge of climbing. he hates having to come back to the ground. because it’s not the same. it’s the same view as always. you’re tired after getting to the top, but you have a view to see. you’re exhausted by time you get back down, and it’s for nothing. 

but he won’t say it’s a fear, because he doesn’t feel scared when doing it. he’d just, rather not. but if he had to, if he has to.... he will. he always finds a way down
