I love how supportive Cloud becomes later in the game compared to how standoffish he is early on. It really shows how much he craved the companionship of others for so long, and now he has it, he's able to start to mellow out bit by bit.

It's really funny that Rebirth gave such a random NPC a whole theme song and side quest section when he was forgettable in the original.

Jevil is such a funny character because he just lore dump foreshadows most of the future chapters then goes "Bye!"

The way Dyne actually commits suicide here is part of what makes the moment so, despairing. There's nothing Barret could do at that point, and unlike many other RPGs, they all have to learn to move on and live with the permanent losses they face.

Another thing that makes the Barret Dyne confrontation in the og more personal is how it's 1 on 1 between the two of them rather than the whole party.

I love Rebirth, but there's something so heartbreaking about the confrontation between Dyne and Barret in the og because of how, raw and non dramatised it is. It just makes you feel a pit in your stomach and feel the effects of what they've both been through.
