angelicqualia:
“Your concern is appreciated. I’m normally able to function properly even under extreme heat and cold. However, with this weakened form, I’ve had to exercise more caution.“
Giselle could fight in the caldera of a volcano and in the frozen wastelands of Hildegaria with barely a problem. Out here and with her primary systems disabled? It was a good thing she lacked a nervous system similar to a human’s or else she would have slowed to a crawl. At the very least, she wouldn’t have to worry about her mana engine overheating in this temperature.
She watched the other girl set her things down before taking her place next to the campfire to add fuel to it. The angel watched for a moment before eventually switching to a sitting position. Resting upon the frozen earth in a semi-crossed legged position, Giselle eyed the ears and tails of the stranger. She brought up one of her hands, outstretching it toward the flames.
“My name is Giselle. I’m unused to cold weather of this degree appearing so quickly in my kingdom. Curiosity brought me out here.“
Droplets of water rolled down Giselle’s wrist and from her fingers. Without so much as a blink, she gripped her wrist with her free hand and gave it a twisting motion. With a sudden CRACK and POP, Giselle twisted the armor surrounding her hand at such a degree that it would have clearly snapped bone… instead, a small stream of melted snow poured out of the hollow cavity in her wrist.
“As you can see, my body is completely non-organic. In case you mistook me for a normal inhabitant of this city.“
“Yeah, all of the sudden snow is pretty weird. I’m not from around here, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t normal. I think you only really see this in really tall mountains.” At least that was where she remembered seeing snow and ice. The reactions from other people also helped to clue her in on this being strange.
As she sat by the flame, she was able to feel the chill slowly working itself out of her extremities as the rest of her body began to warm up. Soon enough, she found herself starting to doze off. All the effort she put into dealing with the snow and ice was beginning to take its toll on her. Phasing out what was happening until the sudden assault of a crack and a pop. Snapping herself into a state of alertness, she looked at everything around them to spot the source. Taking her a few seconds to finally notice Giselle sitting there with the self-imposed ‘injury’ to her wrist.
Before she could even voice any concern, she already explained herself. “Ah... non-organic... right...” Whatever that meant. “I guess that means doing that doesn’t hurt you?”
